This position is responsible for providing design and oversight of water/wastewater utility projects for public, private and municipal utility district clients. In addition to leading a team of engineers and technical professionals, this position will also be actively involved in professional associations and community organizations as Pape-Dawson continues building partnerships within the community we serve.
Responsibilities
Prepare proposals, budgets and client agreements
Lead, mentor, and oversee design and technical aspects of the team(s) projects including detailed engineering design and calculations, report writing, permitting (local and state) and presentations to clients, public agencies, and the general public
Write responses to client RFQs and Solicitations
Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, public agency officials and community leaders
Coordinate and monitor project tasks, budgets and schedules
Responsible for the technical and professional development of project team(s)
Participate in the development of company design and production standards
Actively participate in professional associations and civic organizations within the community
Preparation of creation reports and bond applications for municipal utility districts
Attend monthly board meetings for municipal utility districts
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation in the State of Texas
5 years' of experience managing substantial water and wastewater projects from conception to completion
5 years' of experience managing municipal utility district clients and/or public clients
Extensive knowledge of design and construction practices for waterlines, storage tanks, pump stations, wastewater lines, lift stations and force mains
Some knowledge of water and wastewater treatment facility design and construction and general knowledge of modeling water distribution and wastewater conveyance systems
Proven ability to effectively communicate, both oral and written skills
Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, municipal utility districts, public agency officials and community leaders
Proven ability to lead a team of engineers and technical professionals
Actively involved in professional associations and civic organizations
Must be able to work 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday

What can you expect on a daily basis?
Perform watershed hydrologic analyses for planning, outfall master planning, flood control conveyance and detention facility design
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using ArcGIS and other proprietary software for modeling
Prepare proposals, scopes of work and contract cost estimates as needed
Prepare LOMR and CLOMR FEMA applications
Prepare drainage report documents with tables and exhibits for submission to review agencies and address comment
Lead and mentor a dynamic group of technical professionals - engineers and technical support- to serve our clients well
Engage in the proposal and client agreement development and execution
Develop trusting professional relationships with clients, public agency officials and community leaders
Be respectful of client time-lines through effective coordination of project tasks, budgets and schedules
Champion the professional development of each member of a project team according to each member's individual goals and career path
Participate in the development of company design and production standards to continue excellence within our technical expertise
Be open to new ways of accomplishing goals
Seek guidance from other leaders; be open to suggestions in various aspects of project management
Give back to our community by actively participating in professional associations and civic organizations

What qualifications are needed and key to this role?
Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
7 years' experience managing a team and clients for the completion of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling projects
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to sit for P.E. in Texas within six (6) months
Proficient with HEC-RAS steady, unsteady state modeling and HEC-HMS
Proficient with ARC-MAP and Civil 3D
Microstation and Geopak experience a plus
SWMM modeling experience a plus
Experience with the FEMA, CLOMR/LOMR submittal
Experience with developing master drainage plans for land development projects
Experience with DOT drainage studies
Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with all level of employees within an organization
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, both public and private, as well as representatives of local, state and federal regulatory agencies
Demonstrated ability to work in a team as well as independently
Office hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday to be available to serve each other and our clients.
