    This position is part of the Morning Pointe Operations Team, a resident-focused, high performance, high commitment work team that supports the Morning Pointe purpose of "partnering with families in meeting the challenges of life". The food service staff is responsible for making sure that quality food and beverages are served in accordance with Morning Pointe Policies and Procedures and local food service regulations. Qualifications/Skills Needed: The successful candidate must have experience in food preparation work in a service environment is preferred. Strong verbal and written communications skills are essential. Demonstrated support and understanding of the philosophy of Morning Pointe and the five domains of health (physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and social) is required. A flexible work schedule is also a necessity. Duties include, but are not limited to: * Work with the entire Morning Pointe team to build relationships and strong communication with residents and families to ensure adjustment to the community, identification of needs and problems, and the development of an appropriate plan of service for each individual resident. * Verify meal request of residents and communicate same with cook. * Brew coffee and tea and serve as requested. Serve water and juice as requested. * Assist with serving meals as directed by supervisor. * Promptly bus tables after meals and reset tables for next meal with silverware/stemware/coffee mugs/cloth napkins. Replace clean tablecloth toppers when needed. * Keep all counters in dining room clean and wiped down. * Refill condiments as needed. * When fresh flowers are used as center pieces, change out as directed by supervisor. * Prepare nourishment and snacks as requested. * Assist with food preparation as directed by supervisor. * Assist in serving meals and tray preparation for residents as required. * Clean dining room, tables, chairs, floors, etc. Vacuum floors as needed and after each meal. * Clean food preparation area, including utensils used and equipment; wash dishes, take out trash, mop floors. * Responsible for assisting with the daily cleaning and weekly deep cleaning of the kitchen dish room, pantry and dining room. * Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times. * Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions policies and procedures when performing daily tasks. * Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to your supervisor immediately. * Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor on the shift in which they occur. * Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies. * Carry out special duties or projects as assigned. * Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information. * Knock before entering a resident's room when delivering or picking up trays. * Report complains to the Food Service Director. * Adhere to the facility dress code. * Adhere to the facility attendance policy. * Provide consistent customer service to residents, guests and staff. Physical Demands: This position is classified as HEAVY, requiring exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift/move objects. Functional requirements including constant standing and walking. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, turning and stretching. Finger and hand dexterity required. Visual and hearing acuity along with the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions are essential.

Assists cook in preparation of meals. Carries trays to patients on halls. Cleans tables in the dining area after each meal. Helps with salads and desserts and other dishes. Assists with the pouring of juice, milk, water, and tea. Serves patients beverages, etc. Takes meals out to patients in dining area. Prepares between-meal nourishments (make sandwiches, etc.). Cleans work area at the end of shift and after meals, including sweeping and mopping. Removes garbage from kitchen areas and hoses out garbage containers. Complies with infection control policies in the work area. Scrapes dishes, washes dishes, pots and pans. Records freezer and walk-in refrigerator temperatures in accordance with established procedures. Checks stock as needed. Puts up stock in appropriate manner. Stores cleaning materials appropriately. Sets up tray line and performs tray line service. Follows diet orders and NPO diet orders. Offers menu substitutions and records them in accordance with procedural guidelines. Properly stores leftovers/opened food. Serves nourishments in accordance with procedural guidelines. Makes coffee/tea as requested. Follows procedures for serving associate meals. Cleans kitchen equipment such as, carts, tables, counters, ice machine, buckets, blender, mixer, meat slicer, freezer, refrigerator, stove, oven, steamer, garbage disposal, dish machine coffee/tea maker, steam table etc. Operates the dish machine, garbage disposal, mixer, blender, meat slicer and steamer. Operates coffee and tea maker. Follows standardized recipes. Uses serving equipment (ladle, spoon, scoops, etc.) Checks and records water temperature (dishwasher, pot and pan sink, etc.) Checks dishwasher with sanitizer strips. Checks chemical levels and replaces if needed. Promotes the image and reputation of the System by exhibiting servant leadership and providing direct and open lines of communication. Contributes to the work of committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative efforts of the System. Performs other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Communicates well with other associates, patients, family members, and visitors providing warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude.
