Paragon Hotel company history timeline

1903

Paragon Hotel is a magnificent Victorian Gothic style six-storey hotel. It was built in 1903 as Rowton House and was originally owned by Lord Rowton.

1961

The foundation of Paragon Hotel Corporation was established in 1961 with the formation of Romney International Hotels by Phoenix hotel operator Wayne Romney.

1971

The restructuring process was completed in 1971 with the purchase of Romney International by Western Financial Corporation.

1977

The remaining 22 properties were spun off from Western in 1977 with a leveraged buyout masterminded by officers of Romney International, two of whom remain as present Paragon Hotel Corporation owners.

1984

In 1984, the Board of Directors voted to change the name of Romney International Hotels to the company’s current name, Paragon Hotel Corporation.
