JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Los Angeles, CA office is seeking an experienced Paralegal to work in our Environmental & Land Use - Litigation practice group. Qualified candidates will have at least 5-10+ years' experience in all stages of litigation as a paralegal to include pretrial and trial experience. Experience with federal and California state court litigation is required, and experience on environmental or toxic tort matters is preferred. Description:
Provide litigation support to our client's attorneys and partners. This role manages a high volume of cases and requires the ability to be resourceful and multi-task with a high attention to detail.
Experience at an employment law firm is highly desirable. This position can be based in Oakland, Downtown Los Angeles, or Irvine.
Accountable for
• Prepare correspondence, letters, pleadings and all forms of discovery.
• Proofread and edit legal documents for accuracy and clarity.
• Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases.
• Maintain case files on the Firm's document and case management system.
• Assist in preparing for hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations and trials.
• Case/calendar/project management and client communication.
• Provide administrative support to the legal team.
Qualifications
• 3+ years of Paralegal experience in Labor and Employment and Wage & Hour.
• Well versed in e-filing in State, Federal courts (Appellate a plus), and administrative agencies.
• Experience propounding/responding to discovery, calendaring hearings and court deadlines, and
assisting with mediation/arbitration/trial preparation.
• Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels across the Firm.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while providing leadership and guidance to paralegals, legal assistants and clerks.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills.
• Proficient in conducting legal research using Lexis-Nexis, Westlaw or similar platforms.
• Experience using Litify or similar case/document management systems.
• Spanish fluency and proficiency with Microsoft 365 strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree a plus.
