What You'll Do

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Faegre Drinker, one of the 50 largest law firms headquartered in the U.S., is searching for a Paralegal to join our Private Client team in our Indianapolis (96th St.) office. As a Private Client Paralegal, you will support experienced lawyers in all aspects of estate administration, from inception through termination. This position will work with other talented individuals who share a passion for doing great work in the best interest of our clients.
Job Description:
What you would do:
* Prepare probate and administration documents for formal and informal proceedings
* Prepare disclaimers, receipts, releases and settlement documents
* Collect, analyze, and organize decedent's financial records, including tax returns, trust agreements, deeds, stock powers, and financial statements
* Track estate assets, coordinate asset transfers and assist with trust funding
* Compile, prepare and file federal estate tax returns, gift tax returns and fiduciary income tax returns
* Establish close rapport with clients, trust and estate beneficiaries, and clients' financial advisors to ensure positive and cooperative working relationships
* Assist attorneys, as needed, in connection with drafting wills, trusts, lifetime directives and other estate planning documents
* Special projects and duties, as assigned

What is required:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; paralegal certificate strongly preferred
* 5+ years of experience in trusts and estates required
* Experience as a paralegal in a law firm strongly preferred
* Previous experience with a variety of tax programs, including programs for estate tax, fiduciary income tax, and securities evaluations
* Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
* Experience with tracking billable time
