This is a fully remote position. The ideal candidate must have experience with working in this type of environment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage high volume of files from inception to trial.
Draft and analyze legal documents, including discovery, pleadings and correspondence.
Constant communication with court, counsel and clients.
Assist attorney(s) in all phases of trial-preparation, including but not limited to all pre-trial pleadings, redacting medical, preparing deposition page/line summaries, etc.
Managing case deadlines and attorney calendars.
Assist with deposition, meeting, or interview preparations.
Subpoena, summarize and analyze medical, radiology and billing records, and compile information to prepare final medical summaries/expense summaries.
Working knowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedures and Texas Statutes.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
Knowledge of legal terminology and civil procedures.

ABOUT HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION LAW PROJECT
Public Counsel's Homelessness Prevention Law Project (HPLP) serves individuals who are at high risk of becoming homeless or are currently unhoused. HPLP assists unrepresented low-income litigants in unlawful detainer (eviction) actions, and provides pre-litigation counsel and advice to tenants who are involved in a landlord-tenant dispute. HPLP also provides
pro bono
representation to homeless individuals and families to help remove legal barriers to obtaining permanent housing. In addition, we run several community clinics to connect low-income Angelenos with free legal advice, and provide educational workshops in collaboration with community-based organizations.
In addition to our homelessness prevention and anti-displacement efforts, our recent work includes:
Supporting local tenants in their successful efforts to obtain and preserve COVID-related eviction protections;
Working with community-based organizations to provide know-your-rights presentations and workshops to tenants on new and constantly-changing housing laws;
Teaming up with other non-profit legal services providers, tenant organizers and community-based organizations throughout Los Angeles County to push forward the implementation of a Right to Counsel for all tenants in eviction proceedings.
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Shriver Program Manager, the Shriver Paralegal is a full-time position, based primarily at Public Counsel's main office at 610 S. Ardmore. The position may involve some off-site work in other parts of Los Angeles County for client home visits and assistance in court.
The Paralegal will work in Public Counsel's Shriver Housing Project team within the Homelessness Prevention Law Project. The Shriver Housing Project is a pilot project authorized under the Shriver Civil Counsel Act (AB 590) to demonstrate the benefits of providing counsel to litigants in high-stakes civil litigation such as the possible loss of housing. Although not a pure civil Gideon project, the Shriver Housing Project assists thousands of low-income litigants in unlawful detainer (eviction) actions each year. Public Counsel's Shriver team provides full-scope eviction defense representation to tenants whose cases are filed at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles. The team also provides some limited counsel and advice to tenants with other housing issues.
The Paralegal will support the work of the Shriver team attorneys in collaboration with the Shriver Program Manager, Supervising Staff Attorney, and other members of the team.
This is a full-time position that will involve the full breadth of civil litigation activities, administrative work, grant reporting, meeting with clients, and assisting with trial preparation. The position has the following responsibilities:
Serve as supporting Paralegal on Shriver eviction cases, which includes:
Preparing electronic case files and setting up intake appointments
Conducting and/or assisting during intake appointments
Preparing draft pleadings and discovery requests
Assisting with document preparation and e-filing
Communicating with clients
Collecting and organizing evidence
Maintaining the digital file
Assisting with client meetings in the office
Occasionally accompanying attorneys on site visits to client homes
Occasionally accompanying attorneys to court
Assist with gathering data required by the Shriver Project for annual grant reporting obligations
Complete administrative work related to litigation, including document management, consistent keeping of case notes in the internal case management system, and case tracking on the team's litigation calendar and in the online Attorney Portal

About This RoleAs part of Intersect's Legal team, you'll support a wide range of financing and strategic transactions that drive our renewable energy and data center projects forward. You'll work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and cross-functional teams to prepare, organize, and manage critical documentation for project finance, tax equity, corporate financing, mergers and acquisitions, and other capital markets transactions. Your work will ensure smooth execution from due diligence through closing and post-closing, making you an essential partner in scaling Intersect's clean energy and infrastructure platform.
Team OverviewThe Legal - Project Finance & Strategic Transactions Team supports all financing transactions at Intersect, partnering across Finance, Development, Construction, Operations, and Origination. With five attorneys and three paralegals, we are a highly collaborative group where each member contributes to multiple deals at once. This structure provides shared knowledge, agility, and exposure to some of the most innovative financing structures in the energy and data center sectors. Joining this team means playing a direct role in delivering the capital solutions that power Intersect's mission of building a low-carbon future.
What You'll Do
Support Complex Transactions • Assist attorneys and senior paralegals with documentation for debt, tax equity, tax credit transfers, corporate financing, and M&A • Review project and corporate records to create and update disclosure schedules and other financing deliverables
Organize and Manage Documentation • Maintain well-organized transaction files, ensuring documents are named, filed, and accessible • Prepare and coordinate construction loan draws, bringdowns, and related deliverables • File UCC financing statements, conduct UCC searches, and manage other required corporate filings
Facilitate Closing Processes • Manage checklists, signature packets, and execution of documents for financial transactions • Coordinate with counterparties, opposing counsel, and internal stakeholders to support negotiations and ancillary documentation • Compile and distribute executed documents and track post-closing obligations
Drive Efficiency and Collaboration • Maintain transaction status reports and other tracking tools • Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and workflows • Provide general support across the Legal team to help meet deadlines and priorities
What You'll Bring • A bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience supporting complex transactions • Corporate, transactional, or finance paralegal experience-experience in renewables, data centers, or infrastructure finance is a plus • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, and follow through reliably • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with composure under pressure and responsiveness to shifting priorities • Excellent communication skills to convey complex information clearly and concisely • A collaborative mindset, sense of humor, and ability to thrive in a dynamic team setting • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Slack, Adobe, and the ability to learn additional platforms as needed Total Rewards At Intersect, we care about your well-being, growth, and balance. This Paralegal position will support our Gun Violence Project, a dynamic initiative providing a broad range of civil legal services to individuals who have been impacted by gun-related crimes or offenses. This position offers the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those affected by gun violence, helping clients navigate complex legal issues that may include housing stability, family law, victims' rights, public benefits, and more. Paralegals at LSNF work collaboratively with superior legal professionals in civil litigation and administrative law to strategize and advocate on behalf of clients and seek justice. This role will have a great deal of client communications and interactions. LSNF legal staff also engage in significant litigation including large-scale impact work and appellate work. To fulfill our mission to remove barriers to legal access, LSNF carries out community education and outreach with two Justice on the Block mobile response units where individuals can speak to an attorney, paralegal, apply for our services, or have assistance filing pro se documents. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong experience in e-filing, conducting client interviews, and preparing documents and materials for hearings. Proficiency in drafting letters, legal motions, and orders in accordance with jurisdictional requirements is essential. Effective communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate, confidential client records are critical to this role. Ideal candidates will have a desire to positively impact the clients' lives and the overall community. Experience with outreach, community education, and/or public presentations is a plus. Salary is negotiable, depending on experience. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications can expect an entry level annual salary of $38,000 plus benefits.
