Conduct title searches and review title commitments, surveys, and property records to identify issues such as liens, encumbrances, and easements.
Coordinate real estate closings, including preparing closing binders, gathering required documentation, and communicating with buyers, sellers, lenders, and agents.
Draft and file legal documents related to property transactions, including deeds, mortgages, liens, and releases.
Prepare closing checklists and ensure all required documents are completed and executed accurately.
Assist with due-diligence activities for commercial and residential real estate transactions.
Maintain and update transactional files and databases to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
Liaise with title companies, banks, escrow agents, and government offices to obtain necessary information and documentation.

What You'll Do

Compensation and Benefits
For Illinois Only: It is expected that the base salary range for this position will be $65,000 to $80,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as skills, experiences and qualifications for the role. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to provide essential legal and administrative support to two supervisory attorneys. This is an in-office position with standard hours of Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and a professional demeanor. This role focuses on legal research, document preparation, deadline tracking, and client communication, with an emphasis on property tax appeals and related legal processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
Legal Research and Documentation:
Conduct in-depth legal research related to property tax appeals, including analyzing property values, tax rates, and relevant regulations.
Draft, proofread, and file legal documents, including appeal forms, cover letters, and correspondence with local governments.
Prepare and organize materials for hearings, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
Case Management:
Track and manage deadlines for property tax appeals and other legal matters.
Maintain and update a database of electronic client files, ensuring all records are current and easily accessible.
Generate client reports and summaries as requested by attorneys.
Hearing Coordination:
Schedule and coordinate hearings with local officials and internal teams.
Communicate with various stakeholders nationwide to ensure smooth hearing processes.
Client Communication:
Serve as a point of contact for clients, responding to inquiries via phone, email, and written correspondence.
Provide updates on case statuses and assist with client-related administrative tasks.
Administrative Support:

Requirements:

Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Two years of office experience, preferably in a legal or professional services environment.

Your opportunity
+ Prepare, review, and assist Sales with US mutual fund distribution agreements and alternative fund distribution agreements for clients investing through third-party intermediary firms, NSCC contracts, institutional client agreements, and agreements for clients investing in separately managed accounts.
+ Manage intermediary mutual fund distribution contracts, including drafting updates, revisions and terminations as required.
+ Provide legal support for the review and negotiation of investment management agreements and other contracts for institutional clients.
+ Assist in managing relationships and contracts for separately managed accounts.
+ Manage contracts lifecycle process for intermediary and institutional distribution agreements, including maintenance of contracts within a management system.
+ Executes contract processing, including summarizing and tracking key contract terms, and performing contract follow-up activities as required.
+ Provides legal support to business development and sales teams, including the review and analysis of requests for proposals and due diligence questionnaires.
+ Support attorneys in the preparation and review of materials provided to boards of trustees. Includes coordinating and managing the collection of information from areas within Janus Henderson in connection with matters that are reported to the board on distribution.
+ Manage information provided to outside vendors as needed.
+ Assist attorneys in coordinating and responding to document production requests for internal audit, regulatory, or other Fund-related research.
