Ability to summarize medical and employment records, create medical chronologies, summarize discovery responses, prepare meet and confer correspondence
Review, manage, summarize, and synthesize records and data of all kinds in various types of cases, with an emphasis on tort cases, including medical records and deposition transcripts
Motion writing experience, such as oppositions to motions including discovery motions, motions to continue trial
Proficient in software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and able to learn other programs including document and case management systems
Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints with minimal supervision and exceptional attention to detail
Maintaining accurate and promptly recording billable time
Education, Experience, and Skills:
3+ years paralegal experience in a law firm
Civil litigation experience required
Familiarity with performing research tasks using web-based legal research services
Experience working with paperless files. iManage experience a plus
Must successfully pass a background/drug screen
Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate from ABA-approved program required.

Hawkins Parnell & Young LLP (Hawkins Parnell) is seeking a paralegal with one to three years of experience to join their Napa office. The practice areas this position will support include, but are not limited to, Insurance Defense, Premises Liability, Products Liability, and General Litigation, and support of the firm's national ESOP advisory team and ERISA litigation defense team.
Hawkins Parnell represents a variety of clients from global corporations to small local businesses and individual clients across the country and U.S. Territories. The successful candidate will be a part of a national team of 250+ attorneys and professional staff coast to coast.

What You Will Be Doing:
Managing cases including maintaining document control, calendaring docket deadlines
Preparing and organizing documents such as forms, charts, reports, letters, etc.
Assisting with trials, including organizing trial documents and exhibits
Preparing pre-trail pleadings
Preparing for depositions
Preparing for hearings
Requesting and organizing records
Maintain team and court calendars and keep attorneys aware of scheduled events and approaching deadlines
Schedule meetings and conference calls
Communicate by phone and email with insurance carrier, insureds, clients and vendors, maintaining professionalism and a high level of customer service
Maintain electronic and paper files
Assist fellow workers and/or other timekeepers as needed
What You Need To Bring:
One to three years of paralegal or secretarial experience
Strong attention to detail
Demonstrated initiative and self-direction
Proficiency in MS Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Bachelor's degree preferred.
