The Administrative Director is responsible for twenty-four hour accountability, integration, facilitation, and coordination of the leadership, management, and clinical practice of the Care Centers/Division. Serves as a professional role model, leader, mentor, and clinical resource/educator for nurses and other members of the health care team. Develops SQP/Care Center goals and objectives with other staff based on analysis of targeted outcome measures of clinical and managerial processes. Strives for operational excellence for patients related to cost, quality, service, and patient outcomes. Is responsible for development and implementation of plans that will support the overall strategic quality plan for service lines involving the assigned Care Centers. Represents the Nursing Leadership and is a liaison to internal and external customers, including physicians. Participates in professional development activities and is active on hospital-wide and physician committees. Demonstrates various styles of leadership. Participates in business development activities for the organization; is accountable for overall budget development, monitoring and variance analysis of multiple units.
Employment Qualifications
1. Must be a graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing or appropriate clinical specialty. A baccalaureate degree is required - Masters degree is preferred.
2. Must possess current license as a Registered Nurse from the Commonwealth of Virginia or awaiting reciprocity, or licensure in specialty.
3. Work requires knowledge of organization and operation of a patient care unit and patient care techniques and methods. Possesses knowledge generally acquired through five to seven years experience in a leadership position.
4. Must have a broad-based knowledge of clinical, psychosocial, and patho/physiological theories relating to patient diagnosis and treatment. Possesses the ability to perform the range of patient care techniques found in general practice including the unusual and non-routine as normally acquired through three to five years experience as a professional nurse.
5. Must have previous work experience in a management position that required knowledge of financial management, personnel supervision and practice, systems and service line development, associated regulatory, licensure, and certification requirements, marketing and contract development

The Scheduler is responsible to coordinate and schedule patient testing and procedures, including interacting with physician offices, other health care providers and staff in departments that provide services to ensure patients are scheduled as soon as possible. Verifies patient information from physician's offices, as well as equipment needs, special requests, and positioning. Communicates special equipment, instruments, and supply requests to appropriate staff. Verifies all patient names, procedures, surgeons, and times with Registration/Admitting.
Ensures correct orders, diagnosis, and clinical history is collected and entered into computer system.
Provides physician office staff and/or patient with hospital approved instructions regarding test preparation. Answers questions pertaining to testing, scheduling, and testing preparation. Refers patient to specialty area staff instructions, which are outside of the ordinary.
Maintains patient records from the previous day, ensuring all records are accounted for. Maintains surgical logbook as needed. Compiles daily census statistics and distributes reports.
Obtain necessary insurance pre-authorization and pre-certifications. Responsible for prior authorization and registration functions.
Ensures accurate patient identification by consistently verifying two patient identifiers in accordance with hospital policy and patient safety standards.

The Trauma Registrar is responsible for the collection and abstraction of data base elements following the criteria of inclusion for state and/or national trauma databases
**Responsibilities:**
The Trauma Registrar, reporting directly to the Trauma Nurse Director/Manager, supports the Southside Medical Center's organizational requirements for verification as a Level III Trauma Center by the Commonwealth of Virginia and the standards set forth by the American College of Surgeons for maintaining a trauma registry database.
+ The Trauma Registrar identifies cases for inclusion into the registry data base from various sources including the Master Patient Index, the ED log, and the Trauma Log based upon the guidelines of National Trauma Data Base standard.
+ Data abstracted will be from various sources including, but not limited, to the electronic medical record, prehospital databases, autopsies reports, and other data sources, either electronic or not that will substantiate the injured patient
+ The Trauma Registrar will assign ICD-10 CM diagnosis codes for diagnosis, comorbidities and complications and ICD-PCS procedure codes for procedures according to the established and published Official Coding Guidelines.
+ The Trauma Registrar will assign and verify AIS codes required for severity of illness and probability of survival as established through AAAM manual for AIS coding
+ Daily chart review and data entry into the Trauma Registry on established patients who meet criteria will be performed.
+ The Trauma Registrar reports all complications and quality issues to the Trauma PI Coordinator as soon as discovered.
+ The Trauma Registrar ensures adherence to data management protocols set forth to ensure accurate and timely reporting of data to the organization and regulatory agencies.
+ The Trauma Registrar assists with performance improvement activities.
