JOB DESCRIPTION:
Working under the supervision of the Captain or higher-ranking fire personnel, the incumbent performs duties to prevent and extinguish fires, protect lives and properties, maintain firefighting equipment, respond to other emergencies, and keep equipment and personnel in a state of readiness for such emergencies. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound judgment, independence, and initiative and perform according to the Fire Department and City safety rules, operating policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required and are subject to change as needs and job requirements change. Position assignments may vary. Responds to emergency medical incidents; analyzes patient needs and establish priorities for treatment; administers lifesaving procedures immediately.

Operates and maintains motor vehicles or other work-related equipment requiring a valid Driver License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

The Medical Support Specialist will be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment. The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
How you will contribute
You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic or EMT-Intermediate

As an ED Tech, you#ll play a vital role on the front lines # supporting nurses, physicians, and the entire emergency team to deliver high-quality, compassionate care when every second counts. #Under the direction of the Nurse Manager or Director, and in collaboration with Registered Nurses and Physicians, you#ll provide skilled, age-appropriate care to patients experiencing a wide range of urgent and emergent conditions. From assisting with clinical procedures and taking vital signs to helping patients with daily needs, your role ensures smooth, efficient, and responsive care in a fast-paced environment. # Hourly Pay Rate: $16.22 - $23.92 # Qualifications Education: Requires a high school diploma#or#GED. Experience: Prefer at least one (1) year of relevant nursing-related or emergency services-related experience. Specialized Training: Must complete an approved phlebotomy class, splinting and traction class, and Valleywise Health computer class within six (6) months of employment.## Certification/Licensure: Requires certification by the Arizona State Board of Nursing as a CNA#or#certification as an EMT by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services; Trauma System for EMTs,#or#a nationally recognized equivalent certificate. Requires BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center upon hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must know EKG lead placement. Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English. Must have the ability to work with culturally diverse people. Requires excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills. Previous acute care hospital experience is preferred. Bilingual is preferred.
