About the role:

You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, management of donor adverse events, review of laboratory test results, and donor notification of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Medical Support Specialist will be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment. The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
How you will contribute
You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
What you bring to Takeda:
High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist

We are seeking an Emergency Technician - Paramedic to:
Provide direct patient care as directed under the supervision of the RN, APP, Physician, and/or Medical Director.
Assist clinical staff in the evaluation, treatment, and care of patients to include, but not limited to, obtaining pertinent patient history and assisting with physical examination, performing technical procedures as delegated.
Monitor patients and maintain records, using patient monitoring equipment and electronic health records to document patient's status, delivery of care, and evaluation of the patient's response to care according to the specific procedures and established protocols.

Qualifications
Current Paramedic Licensing Required
Current NREMT Paramedic certification Preferred
Work Experience
6 months of relevant experience in Emergency Departments, Hospitals, or other healthcare entities to include EMS Required
1 year of previous experience as Paramedic in the field (current/ongoing experience strongly preferred) Preferred

Position Overview
The purpose of this position is to provide technical assistance and supportive patient care to meet the needs of individual patients throughout assigned areas.
Essential Job Functions
Collect, report, and document clinical data. Take vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and collect specimens
Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with established policies and procedures, as well as COLA and CLIA regulations
Assist with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse/designee as indicated by the patient's plan of care
Provide for superficial wound care
Provide for patient safety related to age and condition
Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times
Provide and maintain a clean, safe environment and perform and/or assist others to perform proper aseptic technique, isolation procedures, and infection control measures
Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge of the patient
Other Job Functions
Prepare patients and chaperone during examinations/procedures or assists with other patient treatments
Maintain patient care areas with appropriate supplies
Assist with patient restraints and maintain precautions; collect, report and document data related to patient needs/emergencies and unusual patient and family behavior
Travel to all facility locations as required
Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required
Perform additional duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, required and completion of one of the following:
Completion of Medical Corpsman program and one year of applicable experience (OR)
Completion of EMT-P (Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic), AEMT (Advanced-EMT), Licensed Paramedic (LP) course/program and one year of applicable experience (OR)
Completion of EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician-Basic) and 1+ years of emergency room experience as an ER Technician or hospital equivalent experience [Oklahoma, North TX, Wisconsin & Pennsylvania markets only] (OR)
Completion of the first year of education and current enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing and one year of applicable experience (OR)
3+ years of emergency room experience as an ER Technician [2+ years in Pittsburgh market only] (OR)
3+ years as a CNA with relevant hospital experience (Wisconsin market only)
3+ years as a Certified Anesthesia Tech/OR Tech experience (Wisconsin market only)
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross, required
Current ACLS/ALS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required in most markets.
Exceptions where it is strongly preferred include Pittsburgh, Oklahoma, El Paso, DFW, and Central PA (WellSpan Hospitals)

The Emergency Department at UMMC is a Level III Trauma center which provides 24/7 emergency care for adults and children, serving both Minneapolis and nearby communities. It is located at 500 Harvard St. SE, Minneapolis, MN, on the University of Minnesota campus along the Mississippi River. The ED is staffed by experienced emergency medicine physicians, nurses, and medical professionals equipped to treat a wide range of urgent and life‑threatening conditions.
As part of the medical center's flagship location, patients have access to extensive specialty services-including critical care, cardiology, pulmonology, cancer treatment, and organ transplantation-ensuring continuity of care when advanced treatment or hospitalization is required. The medical center has also been recognized as the No. 1 hospital in the Twin Cities Metro for 2025 by U.S. News & World Report.
Schedule: This position will be working 0.70 FTE (56 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours night shifts 11pm-7am. This position will also work an every other weekend rotation.
Job Expectations:
Provides patient care:

Required Qualifications (Must have BLS certification and ONE of the following):
* Current EMT or ERT certification
* Current Paramedic certification
* Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the MN Registry
* Enrolled in an LPN, RN, or NP program (with at least 1 completed clinical semester)
* Six months of recent hands-on patient care experience (acute, long-term, or home care)
* Completed Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program
* LPN licensure
Preferred Qualifications:
* 1+ years of Emergency Department experience (EMT, ERT, paramedic, scribe, etc.)
* Current experience as a CNA or NST
