MedSTAR Transport within MedStar Health is actively seeking Emergency Vehicle Operators/ Emergency Medical Techs to provide basic patient medical care during interfacility ambulance transport. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently operates the ground ambulance obeying all driving laws.
Conducts an inspection of the assigned ambulance at the beginning of each shift to ensure the ambulance is ready and safe for use.
As part of the programs safety management system, provides feedback and participates in program safety initiatives.
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
Ensures cleanliness and appropriate par levels of supplies in transport vehicle(s).
Establishes and maintains professional radio communications with MedSTAR and other agencies, adhering to appropriate FCC protocols.
Initiates department standing orders in appropriate patients. Performs basic airway techniques including oxygen therapy. May perform bag-mask ventilation according to established departmental protocols in emergency situations.
Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment of caring for patients and families. Provides basic patient comfort measures during procedures. When necessary, provides environmental support to expedite timely patient admission or transfer. Identifies and acts upon opportunities to improve the environment of care.
Participates in MedSTAR Transport safety program. Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Successful completion of an approved EMT course required
Completion of an approved emergency vehicle driving course prior to release from orientation required

Position Summary
The Emergency Department Team Lead applies the principles of growth and development while utilizing the nursing process to provide high-quality patient care and sound clinical judgment. Firefighter Paramedics will work in a fast-paced, innovative, and data driven jurisdiction with unique and high-profile special events related to its status as the Nation's Capital. Firefighter Paramedics are assigned to one of thirty-three fire houses throughout the District of Columbia. Duties and Responsibilities
Incumbent provides emergency medical care in accordance with innovative and data driven protocols, which may include stabilizing critically ill or injured patients through the application of advanced life support procedures, such as intubation, peripheral intravenous insertion, defibrillation, and administration of pharmacological agents. The incumbent will drive a medic unit to a specific address or location of an emergency, choosing the most direct and expeditious route in a timely and safe manner. The incumbent will maintain basic and advanced life support care during transportation to the appropriate hospital emergency department. The incumbent will accurately report, verbally and in writing, observations, interventions, and emergency care given to the patient at the scene and in transit to the emergency department for record keeping and diagnostic purposes. The incumbent may manage emotionally disturbed, alcohol and drug intoxicated, and unruly patients.
Incumbent performs as a firefighter, responding to all conditions and life-hazards, both known and unknown, with a minimal response time. Upon arrival at an emergency incident, the incumbent will relay conditions, life-hazards, and exposures to commanding officers. As a Firefighter Paramedic the incumbent will examine structures for signs of fire extension or other dangers and determine the safest evacuation route for occupants. The incumbent will make forcible entries, make openings for ventilation, perform overhaul operations, deploy hose lines, and operate hydrant systems. Firefighter Paramedics drive and operate fire suppression apparatus of significant complexity, including pumps, aerial ladder trucks, and rescue squads. Firefighter Paramedics may extricate injured and/or entrapped patients by safely employing rescue techniques, which include various extrication devices. Additionally, they will use power tools, saws, and ventilation fans.
Qualifications and Education
Candidates must successfully pass and complete the DC Fire and EMS Department's Recruit Training Course and pass all probationary requirements. Candidates will demonstrate competence providing pre-hospital emergency care through various mechanisms, including field training.

Position Summary
The Community Paramedic will deliver in-home clinical care under established protocols, focusing on prevention, follow-up, and gap-closure in patient care. This role operates outside the typical EMS transport model. You will assess health needs, provide treatment, prevent readmissions, coordinate with patients' care teams, and help patients navigate both clinical and non-clinical barriers to wellness. You will work with autonomy, using Total Care Connect's electronic patient care record system, following physician-led protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Perform patient assessments in the home environment: vital signs, health history, home safety, risk factors, etc.
Provide in-home follow-up care post-hospitalization or after urgent care visits to prevent complications and readmissions.
Deliver patient education on disease management, medication adherence, lifestyle improvements, and social determinants of health (e.g. nutrition, housing, etc.).
Work under clinical protocols to treat/manage health issues, escalate when necessary, consult virtually with advanced providers (NPs, RNs, physicians).
Coordinate care: schedule or facilitate follow-ups, referrals, community resources, and linkages with other health or social services.
Document all care, assessments, and patient encounters thoroughly, using the organization's mobile electronic patient care record (ePCR) system.
Participate in internal meetings, trainings, and continuous quality improvement activities.
Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Qualifications
Valid Paramedic certification/license in the applicable state, in good standing.
Minimum of 2-5 years paramedic / prehospital experience; experience in community paramedicine or similar mobile health / MIH models is strongly preferred.
BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred where applicable.
Excellent clinical assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently in the field, manage time well, adapt to changing schedules, and problem-solve in diverse home settings.
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, required insurance, ability to drive to patient homes.

The position s responsibilities include collaborative work with the medical and operational leadership at Medcor, local medical providers, client staff, with key contacts within the client s corporate structure. The day-to-day role of the Worksite Health Technician includes patient care, ongoing workers compensation case management, Return to Work (RTW) program facilitation, and treatment plan monitoring. This position will work closely with outside medical providers.
A typical day in the life of an Onsite Health Technician
Participate in daily operations at Medcor s on-site clinic
Provide superior customer service to Medcor s client and employees
Assessment and treatment of workplace injuries and illnesses according to Medcor s Evidence Based Medicine protocols, known as the Medcor Care Protocols (MCPs)
Build and maintain internal team relationships
Support for onsite employee health and wellness efforts
Pre-employment and post-offer screenings
Documentation of care using state-of-the-art EMR and other tools
Physical Assessment Testing (PATs)
Case Management
Medical charting
OSHA record-keeping

The Department of Emergency Medicine, Innovative Practice maintains a 24/7/365 telemedicine and communications center. The purpose of this center is to coordinate and document care via telemedicine and facilitate the concierge and event medicine practice. Most calls are inbound from ships, aircraft, and remote sites/bases around the globe. In addition, the communications center serves as a single point of contact for our event and concierge medical practices.
We are currently seeking an Operations Specialist-EMT for all shifts. Night shift receives a differential on top of advertised pay band. The primary purpose of this position is to staff the communications center, however, this position can also be used to staff events for medical standby coverage.
As an Operations Specialist-EMT you will need to:
* Facilitate telemedical interactions between patients/clients and medical providers
* Document and accurately scribe medical communications
* Follow up with patients/clients as needed
* Work toward solutions to client issues in a timely and appropriate manner
* Prioritize job duties while utilizing excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.
* Be a nationally certified EMT with current CPR for healthcare providers (AHA, ASHE)
* Be deft at computers and typing
* Performs intake of initial demographic data
* Be confident in their medical terminology
* Work within standard operating procedures and follow defined algorithms

Complexity and Judgment
Work consists of a number of complex and diversified duties. The Operations Specialist-EMT makes decisions while following standard policy/procedures. A supervisor is consulted in unusual situations and/or where there is an exception to policy and standard procedure. The Communications Specialist/EMT will have contact/interaction with personnel in other departments, personnel in other departments and individuals and groups from outside the MFA.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
* A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licensure
* Current and valid BLS, NREMT and AHA/ASHE CPR certification
Experience
* A minimum of 1 year of experience in an emergency response position such as an EMT-B or a communications center
* Strong working knowledge of basic computer systems, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
Physical Requirements
* Sit or stand for extended periods of time in office and field settings.
* Bend, stoop, crawl, and walk on uneven surfaces.
* Must be able to move 100 pounds to a height of 4 feet and carry 100 pounds a minimum of 6 feet.
