This is technical work in providing advanced life support emergency medical services care for a municipal emergency medical service department. Work involves responsibility for providing clinical care at the paramedic level on an ambulance, including functioning as crew leader for the assigned crew on the ambulance. Responsible for the performance of the crew at all times during assigned shifts. Work is performed under actual and/or administrative direction of the Fire/EMS Chief, Assistant EMS Chief, EMS Captains, EMS Lieutenants and the Medical Director and is reviewed through direct observation, reports and evaluation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responds to medical emergencies and performs basic and advanced life support functions.
Responsible for the checking of vehicle, equipment, and supplies at the start of each shift. Replaces used supplies and checks equipment after transport.
Direct patient care. Performs emergency medical services on persons injured or ill according to National, State, and Departmental guidelines.
Function as a paramedic. Transports patients to emergency medical facilities, reports observations and actions to emergency medical staff, and may provide additional emergency treatment.

How you will contribute
* You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
* You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
* You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
* You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
* You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
* You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

The Critical Care Paramedic functions at the highest levels within their scope of practice and makes advanced clinical decisions to ensure the safe and timely movement of patients across the region.
The position primarily provides care to patients requiring critical care both on the ground during ambulance transport and via fixed and/or rotor wing transport in a helicopter, if needed.
The Critical Care Paramedic completes both didactic and experiential learning during orientation and cares for patients of all age ranges including neonates.
In addition, this position will make critical decisions while operating in austere environments that could include scene responses with public safety to stabilize and deliver care above the capabilities of typical paramedic-led 911 ALS services.
The Critical Care Paramedic will invest substantial amounts of time into obtaining and maintaining advanced certifications (i.

The Critical Care Paramedic position will provide care to NICU and PICU patients.
Additionally, this position may provide support to in-patient clinical services such as the cardiac cath lab, ICU, Emergency Department, and other clinical areas where the knowledge and skill of the Critical Care Paramedic contributes to the patient care plan.
The Critical Care Paramedic may also staff UH EMS-I Event Medicine.

Verizon smart phones are secured to onboard dash-holders while interfacing with our Traumasoft CAD system to provide upcoming trip information silent dispatching, and navigation with ease. NAUTO drive cam A.I. Stair chairs, Reeves stretchers, and manual lift-assists are always on-hand for the more difficult moves and transfers. Antimicrobial dome lighting is available in every patient compartment of our vehicles to continually disinfect surfaces and hard to reach crevices for additional safety and infection control. Medical Direction and Clinical Protocols provided by UH EMS Institute.
On-site Mechanics are available weekly to provide timely repairs, PMs, to company vehicles, and employee vehicles when time permits. Porters are also provided throughout the workweek to take over the Ambulances at the end of shifts to provide deep cleaning and detailing while the hardworking EMTs are free to go about their day or evening.
