Firefighter/Paramedic
Classification: Non-Exempt; Part-Time
Firefighter/Paramedic
Under general supervision of the Fire Captain, provides direct services, individually as a member of a team in response to fire, rescue, hazmat, and other calls for service. Additionally, the Firefighter/Paramedic will respond to medical emergencies and provide prehospital basic life support (BLS) or advanced life support (ALS) care to victims of injury and illness. A Firefighter/Paramedic is ordinarily the highest medical authority at an emergency scene and will make medical decisions based on standing orders, protocols, and orders from on and offline medical direction.
Duties
Essential duties are a broad overview of the position expectations and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of skills or responsibilities. Above the generalized list of duties, the employee is responsible for all other duties as assigned by the rank of captain or above.
1. Performs inspections of assigned vehicles and equipment at required intervals and after all incident responses.
2. Provides emergency medical services and fire suppression services.
3. The ability to perform fireground activities and duties as assigned.
4. Participates in fire prevention inspections and pre-planning.
5. Operates all necessary equipment required for the performance of EMS and fire suppression work.
6. The ability to read understand the DOT Emergency Response Guidebook and NFPA Hazardous Materials Handbook.
7. Participates in cleaning and minor maintenance of quarters, equipment, and apparatus.
8. Performs medical assessment and procedures based on current certification level and medical direction.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Must possess an Arizona or National Registry EMT- Paramedic. (Must be able to obtain AZDHS EMT certification prior to hire date.)
· BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS
· IFSAC Firefighter I & II or equivalent
· Hazardous Materials Operations
· Arizona class D Driver's License
· Must maintain driver insurability under tribal insurance

Equipment, Machinery, Tools and Materials: Tasks require the ability to operate computers, basic office equipment, telephone, two way radios, measuring devices, MDT, power tools, hand tools, chain saws, shovels, brooms, ladders, exhaust fans. Position also requires the ability to operate a car, truck, fire apparatus, ambulance, patient restraints, first aid equipment, oxygen, electronic testing equipment, medical equipment, and patient lifting devices. Furthermore, the position requires employee to utilize breathing apparatus, hearing and eye protection, firefighting clothing and hazardous chemical clothing.
Environmental Factors: Some work is performed in a fire station environment but responds to emergencies and is subject to potential personal danger. Exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials, fire, unsafe structures, heights, confined spaces, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, toxic agents, explosives, firearms, water hazards, violence, disease and pathogenic substances. Exposure to hazardous conditions such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, burns, explosives, heights, physical injury, and fast moving vehicles. Exposure to toxic fumes, irritants, particulates, biological (infectious) and non-biological hazards, and/or heated gases, despite the use of personal protective ensembles and SCBA. Unpredictable emergency requirements for prolonged periods of extreme physical exertion without benefit of warm-up, scheduled rest periods, meals, access to medication(s), or hydration. Employee may frequently experience interruption in sleep, meals and/or other activities

Responsibilities
Responsible for providing high quality pre-hospital advanced life support including assessment, triage, and treatment utilizing standards and guidelines established by Air Methods Community Based Services (CBS) Medical Director(s). You'll be responsible for carrying out the mission and goals of Air Methods CBS assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
• Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from the initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility; maintains thorough patient care documentation.
• Practices within his/her scope of practice as defined by the states regulating each base and Air Methods CBS. Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences. Communicates educational needs to the Medical Base Supervisor and Medical Education Coordinator.
• Maintains documentation of required licensure, certifications, continuing education, aviation and safety training, OSHA and HIPAA training, clinical rotations, and advanced procedures. Attends minimum of six educational programs per year pertinent to his/her practice.
• Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used by Air Methods CBS. Responsible for reporting medical equipment failures and taking initial steps to
ensure repair of equipment as directed. Maintains adequate supplies onboard aircraft to deliver patient care. Keeps aircraft clean and orderly to insure rapid response to all transport requests.
• Participates in patient and referring institution follow-up and planned outreach marketing and education activities.
• Functions as a medical flight member by attending pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings and completes necessary documentation. Assists in pre-mission liftoff checklist and assists pilot as requested, i.e., radio, navigational, and visual observation activities. Complies with safety standards to assure safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment.

• Assists the RNs and physicians in providing technical care of the patients by: Documenting vital

Responsibilities
Responsible for providing high quality pre-hospital advanced life support including assessment, triage, and treatment utilizing standards and guidelines established by Air Methods Community Based Services (CBS) Medical Director(s). You'll be responsible for carrying out the mission and goals of Air Methods CBS assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
• Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from the initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility; maintains thorough patient care documentation.
• Practices within his/her scope of practice as defined by the states regulating each base and Air Methods CBS. Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences. Communicates educational needs to the Medical Base Supervisor and Medical Education Coordinator.
• Maintains documentation of required licensure, certifications, continuing education, aviation and safety training, OSHA and HIPAA training, clinical rotations, and advanced procedures. Attends minimum of six educational programs per year pertinent to his/her practice.
• Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used by Air Methods CBS. Responsible for reporting medical equipment failures and taking initial steps to
ensure repair of equipment as directed. Maintains adequate supplies onboard aircraft to deliver patient care. Keeps aircraft clean and orderly to insure rapid response to all transport requests.
• Participates in patient and referring institution follow-up and planned outreach marketing and education activities.
• Functions as a medical flight member by attending pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings and completes necessary documentation. The operation on pumpers requires constant alertness and observation to ensure maintenance of proper pressure requirements in accordance with safe operating principles.
Employees of this classification must make sound tactical decisions to provide for the safety, accountability, and rescue of firefighters. This generally includes attack line placement, Rapid Intervention Crew (RIT) strategy, water supply and pump pressure management for various applications simultaneously, and tracking firefighting personnel.
The Engineers work includes actively participating in EMS, public education, training, and physical fitness programs. Employees are required to be able to be a relief officer oh a higher rank and, when assigned, are responsible for the management of all company programs and the supervision of assigned fire companies and equipment at the scene of the incident until relieved of command by an officer of equal or higher rank. Some Engineers are assigned to work on special assignments, which call for special abilities and knowledge attained through experience and training.

Description:
The Emergency Department RN provides patient care using the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies. This role requires strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and the ability to anticipate and plan safe care delivery. The RN may be required to float to the ICU as needed.
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years recent ED experience
• ACLS, PALS, BLS, TNCC certifications
• Must be flexible for mid-shift scheduling and floating
