MEDIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess each call situation to determine best course of action and appropriate protocol.
Utilize medical equipment and procedures including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR and other procedures and medications as required to provide advanced medical care.
Develop and utilize triage skills to provide optimal efficiency during calls.
Provide patient care according to clinical protocols and safety requirements.
Lift and move patients as required to provide optimum care.
Communicate with receiving facility to receive medical direction and to provide critical information.
Act as team leader and take responsibility for scene and unit management as needed.
Drive the ambulance and provide map reading support to minimize call response time.
Continuously maintain all required certifications.
Monitor and maintain the general condition of the unit, keep it clean and stocked for optimal call response to maintain the image of AMR.
Document activities with regard to patient care and billing completely to ensure appropriate information is available regarding each call.
Follow policies and procedures regarding out-of-chute times and turnaround times.
Consider patient status and insurance preferred facilities when determining transportation destinations.
Reports immediately to the on-duty supervisor and/or account manager any incident involving a negative customer and/or patient interaction.
Read medication/prescription labels and directions for usage in quick, accurate, and expedient manner.
Communicate verbally with patients and significant others in various environments to interview patient, family members, and bystanders.
Discern deviations/changes in eye/skin coloration due to patient's condition and to the treatment given.
Converse with dispatcher and EMS providers via phone or radio as to status of patient.

Because of the fast-paced environment, Emergency Room RNs must possess good skills for coping with stress and be able to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.

As a Combo Medic-Lifeguard, you will be responsible for both general medical standby and water safety supervision on set for film, TV, streaming, commercials, and live events. This dual-role position requires situational awareness, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced production environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide basic first aid and general health support during productions.
Monitor the well-being of the cast and crew and support the enforcement of safety protocols.
Respond to minor injuries or on-set incidents with appropriate care and communication.
Coordinate with EMS for escalated care or transport when needed.
Maintain medical kits and safety equipment in ready condition.
Assist with identifying potential safety concerns and reinforcing established protocols.

The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care (CPC) is the leading emergency and prehospital academic center on the West Coast. EMT Clinical Instructors II provide skills presentations, and instruction in our basic life support programs including Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), EMT recertification, and First Responder Medical Training for more than 1,000 students every year. The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care at the David Geffen School of Medicine in the Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking an EMS Program Faculty to join our EMT Hybrid and Accelerated Education team. EMS Program faculty work under the EMT Program Director and collaborate closely with the Medical Director, fellow educators, and the management team within the UCLA Center for Prehospital Care. This role includes leading classroom lectures, coordinating and delivering hands-on skills instruction, and serving as a lead skills coordinator for EMT courses.
As a member of our EMS Program Faculty, you will provide direct student support through academic coaching, remediation, and performance assessments. Responsibilities include scenario-based testing, ride-along coordination, and managing equipment/instructional supplies . You will also participate in curriculum development, including lesson plan alignment with current EMS guidelines and assessments, and contribute to educational research initiatives. Professional collaboration with department directors, administrative staff, and students is essential, as is engagement in outreach events representing the EMT program.
This is a full-time career position requiring an on-site presence of 3-4 days per week for the EMT Hybrid courses and 4-5 days per week for the EMT Accelerated courses, or as needed, including occasional weekends and some evening hours. Assignment between Hybrid and Accelerated course formats may shift based on program and operational needs.
