The Paramedic will utilize their knowledge and proficiency of evidenced-based medical practice and Intl.SOS protocols to manage unexpected and emergent situations and treat a variety of injuries and illnesses in a prompt and professional manner. The Paramedic will assume responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating direct and indirect medical care to patients in emergent situations. She/ he will competently function as a member of the team to provide patient-centred medical care in the pre-hospital setting.
Provides 24/7 365 emergent EMS response on the site.
Provide paramedicine pre-hospital support to patients within the site, outside the site, and during transfer to local higher levels of care.
Ambulance operations, EMS response and the subsequent support of the medical team within the clinic are the primary responsibilities
Assist medical providers with medical procedures and treatments as allowed within licensed scope of work.
Assessment and documentation of the patient's vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, prescribed medications.
Report all changes in patient's conditions to the medical provider.
Proactively and independently administer basic paramedic level care within the standing orders and SOPs without exceeding your licensed scope of care.,
Assist patients with basic care and activities of daily living, as needed.
Provides support and education to help patients make responsible health decisions
Maintains Area of Responsibility (AOR) supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies
Restocking EMS units once supplies are received as well as assisting other clinic operators with restocking
Cross-train to work within in the clinics, emergency room, and inpatient units.

Job Summary
Responsible for providing high quality pre-hospital advanced life support including assessment, triage, and treatment utilizing standards and guidelines established by Air Methods Community Based Services (CBS) Medical Director(s). You'll be responsible for carrying out the mission and goals of Air Methods CBS assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum. This position supports multiple Clinical Flight Teams in at bases in all regions where currently licensed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from the initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility; maintains thorough patient care documentation.
Practices within his/her scope of practice as defined by the states regulating each base and Air Methods CBS. Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences. Communicates educational needs to the Clinical Education Team.
Maintains documentation of required licensure, certifications, continuing education, aviation and safety training, OSHA and HIPAA training, clinical rotations, and advanced procedures. Attends minimum of six educational programs per year pertinent to his/her practice.
Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used by Air Methods CBS. Responsible for reporting medical equipment failures and taking initial steps to insure repair of equipment as directed. Maintains adequate supplies onboard aircraft to deliver patient care. Keeps aircraft clean and orderly to insure rapid response to all transport requests.
Participates in patient and referring institution follow-up and planned outreach marketing and education activities.
Functions as a medical flight member by attending pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings and completes necessary documentation. Assists in pre-mission liftoff checklist and assists pilot as requested, i.e., radio, navigational, and visual observation activities. Complies with safety standards to assure safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment. Conducts aircraft safety briefings as needed.
Serves as a flight resource to neonatal/pediatric personnel when transporting specialty patients by helicopter. Performs advanced skills and procedures as approved by Air Methods CBS Medical Director(s).
Serves as a role model, educator and clinical resource. Participates regularly in departmental activities, projects and committees (to include research and publishing opportunities). Maintains awareness of current issues related to pre-hospital care through participation in professional activities, i.e., national, state legislative--elected or appointed.

Additional Job Requirements
Maintains a high level of flexibility and availability to be scheduled for a minimum of two 24 hour shifts per week at any CBS base where currently licensed. Schedules are provided by the Centralized Scheduling team 4 - 8 weeks in advance. Self-scheduling is not permitted. Inability to be scheduled for two shifts per week as a result of providing limited availability (less than 5 consecutive days per week), in the absence of requested benefit time, will result in a written warning for the first occurrence. A second occurrence will result in a final written warning. A third occurrence will result in removal from the float position. If failure to meet the expectation for shift coverage is due to removal from a shift by Centralized Scheduling as a result of other coverage found, no disciplinary action will occur.

How you will contribute
You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
What you bring to Takeda:
High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic or EMT-Intermediate
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy

An ER Tech's responsibilities may vary slightly, but they generally include the following duties and responsibilities:
Work with doctors and nurses and provide technical support for patient care.

Help with resuscitation/CPR and emergency airway procedures.

ER Tech skills and qualifications
A good ER Tech must have a blend of hard and soft-skills including the following:
Excellent communication skills. Communication skills are vital in the emergency room. An ER Tech needs to be able to speak to and understand directions from doctors and nurses. They also need to be able to talk to scared patients and their worried family members in an empathic way.
Ability to work under pressure. An emergency room is a highly pressurized place, a good ER Tech has to be able to work under pressure in this fast-paced environment and, at the same time, stay focused, organized and keep their cool.
Be a team player. Saving a patient's life is a team effort and ER Techs need to work with surgeons, doctors and nurses to make it happen.
Exhibit compassion. Before and after procedures, an ER Tech needs to show compassion for patients and communicate with them in a kind manner.
Flexibility. An ER Tech must be flexible and available to work shifts on weekends, public holidays and after regular hours.
ER Tech education and training requirements
EMT, Paramedic or CNA Certification. ER Experience needed. Experience and knowledge with phlebotomy, physiology, medical terminology, reading EKGs and inserting IVs and catheters. In addition, an ER Tech must have a current BLS resuscitation certificate.

Key Responsibilities
Know the medical policies and procedures
Respond to all emergencies involving Residents, visitors or staff. Evaluate and treat all medical conditions/ fire conditions appropriately. Call assistance, such as 911, or relative when appropriate.
Identify Residents who require further assistance and participate in subsequent follow-up meetings with specific recommendations.
When necessary, conduct assurance checks on Residents who have not responded to assurance buttons.
Advise Residents on medical/health issues.
Assist Residents with scheduling physician appointments and arrange transportation when necessary.
Take blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration readings when requested.
Visit individual Resident condominiums when appropriate.
Maintain an accurate, complete and legible triage log and incident report on residents in their files.
Perform resident welfare checks as deemed necessary by the Director of Resident Services.
Monitor oxygen supplies and notify Director of Resident Services when it's at 500 PSI
Monitor use of medical supplies and restock trauma/ airway bag when necessary.
Update the Resident's medical/resident profiles and replace in the profile book when indicated.
Check status of discharged Residents from hospital within 24 hours of return to facility. Assess and arrange for necessary assistance to meet their immediate needs.
Communicate with hospital/nurse on condition of residents. Report the resident's condition to the Director of Resident Services.
Greet all residents and visitors of La Loma Village in a friendly, cheerful and professional manner.
Maintain a clean personal appearance and wear the designated uniform required by the department dress code.
Know the facility emergency procedures and assist in emergency drills.
Assist with the Customer Service desk as needed with checking people in and out, accepting and dispensing packages; operating the telephone system and recording a Resident's change of status.
Report all irregularities or needed repairs observed during daily activities.
Cost control: Treat company assets responsibly.
Work agreed-upon schedule with minimal absences in accordance with the attendance policy, and perform routine tasks without close supervision.
Put team success ahead of individual interests; contribute to teamwork by demonstrating a "Will-Do" attitude and by working cooperatively with others, including other departments.
