SUMMARY: Under supervision of the Medical Director and the Lifeguard EMS Program Coordinator, following established policies and procedures, performs the role of a Critical Care Paramedic, including delivery of patient care, training, equipment use and maintenance, and research efforts. Maintains clinical skills, knowledge of literature in the field, assists the Medical Director and the program coordinator in the design of training curricula and research protocols, and develops procedures to carry out patient care, research, program development and outreach, and training objectives. The position shall not supersede the RN role in patient care once responsibility for a patient is transferred from the critical care paramedic to the RN. Provides comprehensive, effective and safe care to any patient transported by Lifeguard EMS. Participates in training of emergency care personnel (EMTs, students, first responders, residents, attending physicians, nurses and others) including curricula development, precepting, mentoring, simulation-based training, conferences and other training techniques. Assists in development of patient care protocols and methods, training curricula, other training techniques, and other research, training, and patient care efforts. Attends required staff and educational meetings and remains current with literature pertaining to relevant program areas of interest. Participates in the design and conduct of experiments, including enrollment of study subjects, according to established protocols and research methodology. Assists in writing presentations and papers for publications based on research performed and may present such findings at conferences. Completes patient documentation (written and electronic) per Rhode Island Hospital and The Rhode Island Department of Health: Division of EMS. This documentation shall be completed in a timely fashion to expedite patient billing. Performs public education, marketing and outreach and maintains a cheerful, positive attitude toward patients and families, co-workers, staff of other facilities and the public. Maintains a clean operational environment. Retrieves, stocks and cleans medical equipment. Reports to remote location(s) for duty. Responds to on-call to emergencies, disasters and major incidents. Performs data entry and clerical assistance. Assists with Emergency Department communications and dispatch at and for the communications center. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current State of Rhode Island EMT-Paramedic license with a minimum of five years field EMS experience. Current Paramedic certification through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (instructor status preferred). CCEMTP and/or FP-C, ATLS (audit), BTLS, PHTLS and NRP preferred. Maintains certifications as mandated by the position Valid and current driver's license and a clean driving record. Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Nursing or related field preferred. Must be able to read, speak, legibly write and comprehend the English language without restriction. Requires a working knowledge of statistics, verbal and written English communications skills, computer use and research methodology. Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport Paramedic (CCEMTP) certification within one year of employment. Course and certification to be approved by The University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) certification within one year of employment. Maintains positive communication (written and spoken), effectively while interfacing with fellow employees, patients, referring hospitals and the community at large. Upholds and adheres to Lifeguard EMS policies and procedures. Upholds safety standards as set by Rhode Island Hospital and The Rhode Island Department of Health. Maintains clinical skill proficiency and knowledge base. This will include but not be limited to patient assessment, history and physical; invasive line (both venous and arterial) placement and maintenance; intra-osseous cannulation; medication dosing, administration and maintenance; airway management (including non-invasive, invasive and surgical); hemo-dynamic monitoring; 12 lead ECG monitoring and interpretation; intra-aortic balloon pump management; ventilator management and RSI. Skill maintenance may be performed at Rhode Island Hospital and other facilities under the supervision of the Medical Director or designee, by attending courses or lectures, through simulation or observational experience, and in other ways as approved by the Medical Director and Program Coordinator. Must be prepared for unrestricted travel in not only ambulances, but also cars, trucks, boats, airplanes and helicopters. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be capable of performing in cramped quarters, any type of weather condition, and other risks including hazardous materials. Must possess and maintain physical condition that allows running, climbing and carrying of medical equipment and lifting of patients Able to stand erect from a squatting position while lifting 175 pounds between two people - agility testing will be monitored annually. Free of motion sickness or history thereof. Free of physical ailment that may impair consciousness or cognitive ability. Standing, walking, running, and sitting. Stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. Running, swimming, balancing, bending, and twisting. Lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling 100 lbs or more. Handling, grasping and fingering, performing CPR, utilizing patient lifting devices, patient bandaging, and other fine motor skills such as Intra-venous line insertion, use of a scalpel, etc. Far vision for driving, identifying landmarks (including corrected). Near vision for reading/writing (including corrected). Hearing adequate to converse in normal tones, hear equipment sounds and alarms, use radios and other communications devices, and perform other job tasks (including corrected). Visual color discrimination for identifying labels, patient assessment, read placards, etc. Dynamic Strength: climb stairs w/equipment and patients. Explosive strength: run up stairs, lifting, escaping hazards Static strength: carry equipment; lift/carry patients Stamina: climb flights of stairs, perform CPR for long periods. EXPERIENCE: Five years experience in emergency medical care, including training and research in that field. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Variable environment, including in and out-of-hospital emergency care situations that may include disaster situations with exposure to unknown substances and/or risks, exposure to ill and injured patients, and training environments. Research and training environment may include in and out-of-hospital clinical and medical simulation settings. Requires travel in vehicles including ambulances and aircraft including travel to conferences in other areas of the country. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.

We are currently looking for a per diem On Call Response Cardiac or Paramedic for overnights, weekends and holidays. This is an on-call from home position with an on-call rate paid to the applicant to be available if needed during the set times and a rate for the applicant if a response was warranted during those set times.
We provide off hours clinician coverage to a group of RI Community Members. The role of the On Call Response Cardiac/Paramedic would be to be available during specific hours in the event a visit to a community member was needed for a medical complaint. The On Call Responder would be notified about the visit from an Alert Healthcare Nurse and be provided with all the information needed. They would leave their home and safely travel to the community members home. Once there, properly assess the patient and contact a dedicated Program Provider who is overseeing the community members care. A care plan would then be discussed and decided on and the On Call Responder would then treat the community member appropriately in their home or contact emergency services so community members can be transported to a higher level of care.
Job Duties:

Two (2) years experience required as either EMT-C or EMT-P.
CPR certification upon hire. CPR certification must remain current during employment.

Upon receiving vehicle assignment at start of shift, the EMT will do the following during the first 15-20 minutes of shift: complete equipment checklist; check fluid levels; visual inspection of lights and exterior; restock equipment and inform Shift Supervisor/Dispatcher of any deficiencies or problems; sign on the air with dispatch reporting in service and giving vehicle mileage.
If a call precludes the above, it will be accomplished at the earliest possible time.
Manage all patients in accordance with standards of care and Statewide Treatment Protocols.
Have a complete understanding of the Scope of Practice of the EMT Paramedic/Cardiac/Intermediate as well as Statewide treatment protocol relative to the State(s) of certification.
Complete the appropriate documentation on all calls in a legible manner and to the standard expected within the company.
Carry out all assignments in a timely and professional manner.
Ensure that vehicle is appropriately stocked, cleaned (vehicle trash can emptied, stretcher made, suction sterilized, etc.) at completion of shift.
On the overnight shift, ensure that bunkroom is cleaned, and linen is disposed of properly.
While on the road, ensure that constant communication contact is maintained between crew and dispatch.

Assigned Base Supervisor
RESPONSIBILITY:
The EMT is directly responsible to the shift supervisor.
The primary functional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Read and understand the company's Policy and Procedure Manual.
Reporting on time and in uniform for their assigned shift in good mental and physical health.
Maintain appropriate certifications (MA and/or RI) in order to function as an EMT legally.
Ensure that the assigned vehicle is stocked, serviced, and cleaned as specified in the daily checklist.
Assure all biomedical equipment is checked, operated and maintained in accordance with manufacturer's standards.
Perform, with a good attitude, all job tasks assigned by the Base Supervisor or other managerial personnel.
Maintain the base living quarters (bunkroom, TV room, bathrooms, garage bay, etc.) in clean and sanitary condition.
Greet all inspection personnel both within the company and State or local officials professionally, courteously and with enthusiasm.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
The Duties of the Staff EMT include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
Upon receiving vehicle assignment at start of shift, the EMT will do the following during the first 15-20 minutes of shift: complete equipment checklist; check fluid levels; visual inspection of lights and exterior; restock equipment and inform Shift Supervisor/Dispatcher of any deficiencies or problems; sign on the air with dispatch reporting in service and giving vehicle mileage.
If a call precludes the above, it will be accomplished at the earliest possible time.
Manage all patients in accordance with standards of care and Statewide Treatment Protocols.
Have a complete understanding of the Scope of Practice of the EMT-Basic as well as Statewide treatment protocol relative to the State(s) of certification.
Complete the appropriate documentation on all calls in a legible manner and to the standard expected within the company.
Carry out all assignments in a timely and professional manner.
Ensure that the vehicle is appropriately stocked, cleaned (vehicle trash can emptied, stretcher made, suction sterilized, etc.) at completion of shift.
On the overnight shift, ensure that the bunk room is cleaned, and linen is disposed of properly.
While on the road, ensure that constant communication contact is maintained between crew and dispatch.
While on duty, have on your personal all appropriate EMT certifications and driver's license.
Operate the ambulance in a safe and reasonable manner in accordance with the laws of Due Regard.
Familiarize yourself with the service area and facilities.
Maintain professional radio procedures in accordance with the policy and procedures of the company.
Conduct oneself so as to never endanger a patient or the credibility of the company.
Service as a “Team Member” and as such adopt a “whatever it takes to get the job done” attitude.
Qualifications
The requirements to maintain employment will include:
Ability to read, understand and communicate in English.
Ability to lift and carry 125 pounds.
Maintain an active Driver's License.
Maintain all appropriate and mandated credentials as defined by OEMS regulations and the company.
Maintain appropriate State(s) licensure/certification.
Employees assigned to dual licensed bases must obtain and maintain dual licensure.
Emergency Room Tech

Primary Function
Responsible for assisting with patient care in the Emergency Services department.
Responsibilities
- Transports patients between different hospital units.
- Ensures that supplies in the Emergency Services department are properly stocked.
- Administer CPR, check blood pressure, temperature or perform phlebotomy and electrocardiograms as needed.
- Ensure the emergency rooms are neat and orderly at all times.
- Adjust crutches for patients as necessary.
- Obtain food order from kitchen.
- Transport discharged patients via wheel chair to car.
- Deliver specimens as needed
- Performs all other related duties as assigned..
Job Qualifications and Specifications
Vocational/technical training and more than six months job-related experience or equivalent is required. Nursing Assistant Certificate is also required.
