The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Medical Support Specialist will be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment. The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
How you will contribute
You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
What you bring to Takeda:
High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist

Interacts with EMS and emergency department personnel as necessary and with expediency, to coordinate emergency care for any presentation warranting an immediate trip to the hospital or advanced life support services.
Creates and records detailed clinical documents for each patient, noting all medications, allergies, and medical conditions presenting. Documents contact information for each family member or friend serving as emergency contact.
Documents and reports findings/actions to ensure encounters are accurately recorded and received by the provider as soon as administratively possible. Provides recommendations to provider within scope of license to address/reduce health risk.
Maintains home visit supplies, equipment and stocks. Sterilizes instruments, practices OSHA safety standards, practices accurate, legal and ethical documentation at all times.
As defined by Florida statutes and pursuant to medical protocols, policies and procedures set by the provider, administers appropriate patient care at the EMT/Paramedic skill level in emergency medical situations.
Reports cases of neglect or abuse to Adult/Child protective services. Contacts law enforcement when appropriate.
Educates seniors on aging and disability resources and other applicable social services. Recommends to provider and care team needed mental health interventions, leveraging community resources whenever possible. Coordinates fire rescue units, police and other community agencies making home visits.
Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.

Responsibilities

* Performing security duties as assigned by supervisor.
* Respond to and administer emergency first aid. Determine nature and extent of illness or injury, or magnitude of catastrophe, to establish first aid procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance basing decisions on statement of persons involved, examination of victim or victims, and knowledge of emergency medical practice.
* Administer prescribed first aid treatment for which they are qualified and trained for at site of emergency, or in specially equipped vehicle, performing such activities as application of splints, administration of oxygen or intravenous injections treatment of minor wounds or abrasions or administration of artificial resuscitation.
* Communicate with professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facility to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and to arrange for reception of victims at treatment facility.
* Complete necessary paperwork and reports accurately and in a timely manner. Key data into a computer to maintain office and patron/team member records.
* Maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and team members. Responsible for reporting safety hazards.
* Ensure the safety and security of all guests and employees.

Must-Haves:

* Must be able to comply with all state gaming regulations, which may include obtaining a license.
* You will be exposed to an alcohol and smoking environment and must be able to work in such environment.
* Must have the ability to secure and maintain licensure as required by any applicable regulatory entity as may be required to perform assigned duties, or as required by Live's operating standards.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
The primary function of a Summit Point Paramedic is to provide Basic Life Support (BLS) care to those in need within the guidelines set forth by the Virginia Office of EMS (OEMS). Paramedics must operate and maintain ambulance apparatus, medical equipment, and skill sets required for the role.
This position is contingent upon contract award. Employment will commence only if the contract is awarded.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
Conduct daily vehicle and equipment checks, ensuring all ambulances are properly stocked at the beginning of each shift.
Perform triage and emergency medical treatments as a BLS provider and ensure continuing care en route to the hospital.
Follow Virginia Office of EMS protocols as well as facility policy guidelines for emergency medical care.
Safely operate ambulances in both emergency and non-emergency situations across public roadways and private property.
Work alongside and coordinate patient care with other emergency response personnel, ensuring a safe and effective team environment.
Maintain a clean ambulance, including sanitizing patient areas after transport and ensuring proper medical waste disposal in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Utilize safe lifting and patient-moving techniques.
Serve as a mentor/preceptor for new EMTs, Paramedics, and Firefighters.
Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, coworkers, and over radio channels.
Complete run sheets and documentation thoroughly, ensuring accuracy in all records.
Assist EMS teams with safe extrication and rescue efforts.
Coordinate landing zones for aeromedical evacuations when required.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Maintain all required certifications necessary for the Paramedic role

Required:

National Registry Paramedic (NRP) certification and/or VirginiaParamedic Certification.

Physical Requirements:
