A $15,000 recruitment bonus is available with this full-time night's position! The Paramedic Critical Care, under the direction of the Operational Medical Director, performs care appropriate to the patient population served and meets routine and life-threatening patient care needs. The Paramedic Critical Care may be required to respond under routine or emergency conditions, assess the scene for hazards, triage multiple patients, especially in mass casualty situations, provide assessment, stabilization and treatment of life-threatening conditions utilizing skills within the Paramedic Critical Care scope of practice, and within the protocols set forth by the Regional EMS Council and / or the Operational Medical Director. Such skills may include, but are not limited to basic life support needs, IV insertion, fluid and medication administration, advanced airway techniques including drug assisted intubation, ventilator management, cardiac rhythm interpretation and monitoring, pacing and defibrillation, and safe transportation to the appropriate medical facility. Provides support for fire and hazardous material activities as required by the Incident Commander, which may include, but is not limited to: fire suppression, EMS standby, patient care, over haul operations, safety officer responsibilities, rehabilitation sector standby, etc. Inspects and promptly reports damage, deficiencies, safety issues or other problems with ambulances, department vehicles, equipment and supplies, or any other matters relevant to safe, efficient and proper operation. Checks and maintains assigned medical equipment, assures supplies, medications and other expendables are maintained at their desired level. Completes various day-to-day station chores (i.e. cleaning, laundry, maintenance trash removal etc.). Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality patient care. Qualifications: Two years of college or graduation from a business college plus additional college level coursework in related programs. The Firefighter/EMT performs duties, in both emergency and non-emergency situations, related to fire protection, emergency medical services, rescue services, hazardous materials response, and emergency management delivery at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. RESPONSIBILITIES Respond to any Fire, EMS, or Hazmat incident on the plant Check and maintain all emergency vehicles and rescue tools Test and inspect fire hose and hydrants Conduct extinguisher checks Maintain the cleanliness of the fire station and its grounds Conduct standbys for tenants Conduct building inspections Inspect and maintain SCBAs Respond to protective building alarms or other calls for assistance. Perform other duties as assigned by the shift Lieutenant or Captain.
