The Emergency Department Technician requires the skills and knowledge of many areas such as: ED Tech, Patient Registrar, Unit Clerk, and Monitor Tech. The Emergency Department Tech performs a variety of RN delegated tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse. He/she assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with training, competence and skill. He/she is knowledgeable of and follows all hospital policies and procedures. Consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, adequately stocked and safe patient environment. As delegated by the RN, operates patient monitoring equipment, records, rhythm strips, runs 12 lead EKGs, biomarkers, and glucometer readings. Performs phlebotomy, collects laboratory specimens as ordered, and inserts saline lock under the direction of the RN. Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department. Appropriately adapts assigned patient assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age specific and other developmental needs of each patient served. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, performs duties of a clerical and non-nursing nature on the nursing units. Activities include serving as a receptionist for the unit, transcribing orders and requesting items for patient care, and assisting with maintaining patient, unit, and hospital records. As a Patient Registrar - Greet all patients as they arrive in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner; Demonstrate and maintain a working knowledge of customer service principles, and departmental expectations regarding customer service. Show concern for patient problems and ensure comfort of the patient while waiting to be registered or seen by the provider. SUMMARY: Allegiance Mobile Health is looking to employ a skilled and experienced Paramedic to provide advanced life support care in emergency and non-emergency settings. The omission of specific duties/responsibilities does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or is a logical assignment to the position. **MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** **Core** + Provides donor satisfaction through appropriate interaction and responsiveness to donor needs. + Determines donor suitability by evaluating normal healthy donors for plasmapheresis procedures and immunizations that meet the criteria of normal plasma donors in accordance with SOPs, the FDA, OSHA, CLIA and cGMP and company policies as well as educational experience. + Consults with Center Medical Director, as needed. + Performs physical examinations for donors and reviews accumulated data in a timely manner to confirm donor suitability. + Promotes donor education of the plasma donation process to encourage a positive donor experience. + Answers and discusses donor questions and ensures the donor is given a clear opportunity to refuse participation. + Explains and informs consent for plasmapheresis and immunization to donors including a description of the plasmapheresis procedure, hazards, potential adverse reactions, and specific immunization programs. + Provides treatment to donors who experience adverse reactions to the plasma donation procedure (i.e. Hypotensive Reaction, Citrate Reaction, Local Injury, Allergic Reaction, etc.) or immunization. + Contacts emergency services if medical treatment exceeds scope of individual license or ability, as needed. + Notifies Center Medical Director if donors are transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to an urgent care or hospital. + Assists in performing the following duties in the plasma collection center, as necessary: + Completes plasmapheresis and whole blood procedures. + Ensures donor safety and monitors for reactions + Encourages donor's return visits by maintaining a cheerful and friendly attitude. + Ensures accurate documentation on the donor chart. + Administers immunizations following SOPs and manufacturers guidelines and monitors responses. + Provides appropriate and confidential counseling to donors, as needed. + Maintains the plasma collection center's emergency medical kit and equipment in accordance with SOPs to ensure equipment is up to date and functioning properly. + Reviews test results and consults with Center Medical Director on any unusual, abnormal, or elevated test results and non-routine situations. + Ensures all medical incidents are reviewed by Center Medical Director. + Reviews and posts SPE/4-month lab work test results and performs donor suitability evaluation. + Notifies donors of positive viral marker testing results (i.e., Hep-B, Hep-C, HIV, Syphilis, etc.). + Participates in plasma collection center's safety committee, as needed. + Educates staff on donor suitability and medical-related questions. + Manages employee Hepatitis B Vaccine administration and other specialty immunization programs. **General** Must be able to execute all terms and conditions set forth in the **KEDPLASMA** **Employee** **Handbook** , including, but not limited to: + Work in a safety-conscious manner which ensures that safe work practices are used in order not to pose a risk to self or others in the workplace. + Comply with company Global Code of Conduct and company's policies and procedures and all the applicable regulations. + Maintain a dependable attendance record and adhere to standards of cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, and dress code. + Attend and participate in scheduled training, educational classes, and meeting(s) in a timely manner as instructed by supervisor/manager. + Cooperate with department personnel, as well as other center staff to ensure services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the donors. + Meet with supervisor/manager on a regular basis to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and/or improving services. + Complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner as instructed by supervisor/manager. + Adhere to work schedules in completing and performing assigned tasks. + Promote KEDRION Values: Together as One; Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) may be approved if prior experience is at an advanced level of operation. + Minimum of one-year experience as a licensed professional in a healthcare environment preferred. + Current CPR certification required. + Plasma collection center or blood bank industry experience preferred. + EMT-A, Paramedic, LPN/LVN or RN license, as allowed by State laws in work location. + EMT-B and EMT-I license, as allowed by State laws in work location for employees hired prior to May 30, 2019. _Any exceptions to these licensure requirements for employees hired after May 30, 2019, must be approved by the Corporate Medical Director or designee._ **Physical Requirements** Work is primarily light in nature, with exerting up to 50lbs of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Use of fingers to type and / or enter numbers on keyboards, keypads, etc. along with grabbing object(s). Additionally includes, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, bending, stooping, and walking. The City of Schertz plans to hire for Part-Time vacancies that may be assigned to 12 or 24 hour shifts. This is a non-supervisory position in the EMS department. Duties include but are not limited to: the daily inspection, maintenance and daily check of medical kits, and cleanliness of ambulance and station. Performs basic and advanced life support skills in accordance with patient treatment protocols as scheduled. Has daily contact with the public requiring the utmost tact and courtesy. Required to make instantaneous decisions on patient care issues requiring mature judgement and knowledge. Required to attend mandatory training both on and off duty to maintain skills and learn new information. Also, any and all tasks and duties as directed by the EMS Battalion Chief. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Performs all Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed for Paramedic. • Performs advanced life support skills and provides and directs efficient and effective emergency medical care and life-saving treatments. • Responds to requests for service whenever and wherever needed to include all times of day and all types of weather. • Operates emergency vehicles and transports patients to appropriate medical facilities. • Communicates effectively with necessary parties including coworkers, dispatch, hospitals, police and fire personnel. • Provides patient advocacy and interagency teamwork. • Completes appropriate patient care documentation and other reports. • Performs daily inspections of all medical supplies and equipment in the ambulances and station, replacing when necessary. Ensures all equipment is ready to be used at any time to include but not limited to ambulances, monitors, stretchers and radios. • Cleans and maintains equipment, vehicles and living quarters. • Attends meetings as required. • Participation in community outreach and public education events. • Precepts students from EMT and Paramedic programs on their clinical rotations. • Performs other administrative type duties as may be requested by the Supervisory staff. • Assuring constant compliance with all EMS Operations according to the Schertz EMS Standard Operating Procedures, Schertz EMS Standard Medical Operating Protocols, City of Schertz Personnel Manual, rules and regulations, protocols of the South Texas Regional Advisory Council (STRAC) and abiding by all rules and regulations of the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
