Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Curriculum Management- The laws of EMS are constantly changing and evolving. California's EMS Directives are a combination of both state and local guidelines, meaning there is a constant update needed to maintain compliance. Instructor Acquisition/Evaluation/Scheduling- It is the responsibility of the Program Director to find qualified candidates to teach the course as lead instructors and skills instructors. In conjunction with the internal resumes that are generated from online, public outreach is necessary to find candidates for this position. As most of the candidates will be part time/industry professionals, each cohort will have to be scheduled, in advance, for the availability of the individual instructors. Instructors will be evaluated by the Program Director by sitting in on lectures and evaluating student progress in testing and pass rates Lead Instructor- While there will be a cadre of instructors to assist in teaching the curriculum, the Program Director will be the Lead Instructor, who's license is on file with the applicable County, and will most likely be responsible for teaching most of the class sessions. Marketing/Admissions Support- The EMT Program is new to the US College system. As such, some of the marketing and admissions staff need additional training and support to find the right students and to adjust the ways in which leads are generated to ensure that Admissions Counselors are not calling potential students who have no interest in becoming an EMT. Branch Campus Management- The main campus for the School of EMS is currently San Diego, however other campuses may have an approved program that requires additional work and training to become fully functioning program to attract students. As other campuses wish to add the School of EMS to their catalog, it will be the task of the Program Director, in conjunction with the Director of Education, to create a program that is approved by the local governing body and bring the foundation of the program to that campus. Qualifications: Paramedic with NREMT certification at minimum, or: Physician, Registered Nurse (RN), Physician Assistant (PA), or a Paramedic currently licensed in California, and who shall have two (2) years of academic or clinical experience in emergency medicine or prehospital care in the last five (5) years. This position is not represented by the Fallbrook Firefighter's Association Safety or Non-Safety Bargaining groups. This is a Non-Safety/Non-Firefighter position. Under the supervision of a Fire Captain, the Single Role Paramedic provides basic medical care and transport of the ill and injured to hospitals or other emergency care facilities; responds to a variety of emergency and non-emergency calls for service; participates in community risk reduction and public education activities; performs station and equipment maintenance; and performs a variety of other duties relative to assigned areas of responsibility. HOURS OF WORK: Current schedule is a 48/96 schedule with a total of 2912 scheduled hours per year. On 24-hour shifts, regularly scheduled activities are generally performed from 0800-1700 and emergency call responses are performed throughout the work shift. During “regular work hours”, employees are provided two 15-minute breaks and a 60-minute lunch break. Retirement benefits provided by the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) for either “CLASSIC” employees or “NEW” employees, as defined by the California Pension Act of 2013. CLASSIC employees with 2.7% at age 55 formula for Miscellaneous employees. Employees with this classification are responsible for their 8% contribution. We are dedicated to getting the reserves the necessary experience to become successful firefighter/paramedics.
