(placement based on qualifications) Lateral Transfer Hiring Range: $67,722-$102,741 Firefighter/Paramedic (full career series): $64,458 - $102,741 (A nnual ranges provided as a courtesy. What are the main duties? Responds to emergency and fire scenes. Provides medical aid. Participates in fire suppression activities and in hazardous materials operations. Operates equipment and vehicles such as pumps, nozzles, ladders, hydrants, extinguishers, generators, etc. Searches for and rescues victims from buildings, autos, mountains, etc. Participates in post-emergency salvage operations and cleanup. Assists in educating the public and performs other related duties as required. Provo City firefighters work a 48/96 shift. What is needed to apply? High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Current Paramedic License through the Utah State Bureau of EMS standards and have been employed in that capacity within the last 6 months. Firefighter I & II certifications (NFPA and Utah Fire and Rescue Academy standards). A valid, lawful Utah State driver license. Lateral transfers may be brought in at the Firefighter/Paramedic, Senior Firefighter/Paramedic, or Master Firefighter/Paramedic level depending on qualifications. Firefighter Paramedic - In addition to the minimum qualifications above, requires a minimum of 2 years of full-time experience as a medical response firefighter. Senior Firefighter Paramedic - In addition to the minimum qualifications above, requires a minimum of 5 years of experience as a medical response firefighter, 2 years of which must have been as a certified paramedic; and ADO-A, ADO-P, Fire Instructor I, and Company Officer Inspector certifications. Master Firefighter Paramedic - In addition to the minimum qualifications above, requires a minimum of 9 years of experience as a medical response firefighter. Communicates educational needs to the Medical Base Supervisor and Medical Education Coordinator. * Maintains documentation of required licensure, certifications, continuing education, aviation and safety training, OSHA and HIPAA training, clinical rotations, and advanced procedures. Attends minimum of six educational programs per year pertinent to his/her practice. * Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used by Air Methods CBS. Responsible for reporting medical equipment failures and taking initial steps to ensure repair of equipment as directed. Maintains adequate supplies onboard aircraft to deliver patient care. Keeps aircraft clean and orderly to insure rapid response to all transport requests. * Participates in patient and referring institution follow-up and planned outreach marketing and education activities. * Functions as a medical flight member by attending pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings and completes necessary documentation. Assists in pre-mission liftoff checklist and assists pilot as requested, i.e., radio, navigational, and visual observation activities. The EMT is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all residents, visitors, staff and protecting Community property. Responsible for verifying the scheduled presence of all employees, and third-party contractors on the grounds. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Makes scheduled rounds both inside and outside the buildings to maintain a secure environment for residents and their property as well as company property. Responds to all fire alarms and apartment emergency calls. Develops and maintains a good working rapport with residents, family members, visitors, and personnel to assure that security procedures meet the needs of the facility. Assists with special security needs as they arise involving employees, visitors, and other members of the community. Provides written report of any community incident during the shift that Director of Facilities and other administration may need to be aware of. Maintains entrances in facility for safe passage at all times. Shovels and keeps clear exit door walkways during and after snowstorms. Accomplishes all work in the order of priority set by supervisor. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor. Attendance is an essential function of this position. OTHER DUTIES: Performs light maintenance as time allows such as changing light bulbs, touch up painting and similar assignments. Maintains all tools, equipment and supplies in proper condition. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned. Reports all incidents/accidents immediately. Reports all unsafe/hazardous conditions equipment immediately. Assures that established safety regulations are followed at all times. Recognizes unsafe conditions and acts on or reports conditions to supervisor. Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to assure HIPAA policies are followed and resident rights are protected. Respects and maintains resident confidentiality. Follows all aspects of Standards of Conduct and Corporate Compliance. Utilizes proper use of body mechanics and personal protective devices. Meets or exceeds internal and external customer service expectations and promotes the continuous improvement philosophy of the department and community. Consistently demonstrates adherence to Infection Control policies and procedures in all aspects of performance. Uses equipment, services and supplies in a cost-effective manner. Participates in quality assurance and continuous improvement programs. Demonstrates a positive attitude and willingness to facilitate team functioning. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: One year experience in security preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS: English: highly proficient in both spoken and written English LICENSE, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: CPR and EMT certifications or willingness to get. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Light to moderate physical effort 90% of the time; may be exposed to the elements (heat, cold, rain, snow); ability to lift 50 pounds; ability to walk 90% of the work day; ability to stoop and stretch occasionally; must observe universal precautions.
