Purpose Under the supervision/direction of a Park Manager, Assistant Park Manager, or the Assistant Manager - Park Operations, intermittent ParkRangers perform a variety of duties, including public/visitor contact and basic assistance, light maintenance, first aid and park interpretation. Duties may be performed at assigned park(s) and/or for other parks as directed.
Example of Duties
Provides support in maintaining safe, clean, and inviting parks for visitors consistent with established operational standards.
Welcomes visitors, provides information and assistance to park visitors, and responds to visitor questions. While assisting visitors, assesses visitors' needs, provides basic direction, options, or solutions if a situation presents. If situations require a response above basic direction, elevates situation to appropriate personnel.
Speaks with visitors, informs visitors about park rules and regulations, ways to become involved with Metro Parks, and provides direction to shelters, picnic areas, various park facilities. Answers general questions about directions, wildlife, vegetation, and park amenities.
Makes rounds regularly throughout work shifts to maintain high visibility with visitors. Rounds through the park may be made in a vehicle, on a bike, or on foot.
Makes rounds throughout parks and trails, looks for signs of vandalism, misuse, trespass, maintenance problems, or safety hazards, and reports any findings to Park Manager/Assistant Park Manager or designee.
Responds to requests for assistance in situations involving injury or illness; assesses situation and initiates established protocols, including providing first aid.
May issue verbal warnings in accordance with operational standards.
Opens parks, unlocks gates and facilities, ensures the park is presentable and ready for early arriving visitors.
Closes parks, locks gates and facilities, performs final security checks before leaving.
Performs sign in procedures for shelter/lodge rental groups; provides information regarding the park, rental requirements, and park amenities.
Performs light maintenance duties including the cleaning of restrooms, nature centers, shelters/lodges; performs snow removal; removes debris and garbage and changes garbage bags.
May perform special maintenance projects as needed.
Assists with special events, including set-up/breakdown, parking logistics/traffic control, and programming.
May represent Metro Parks at fairs, festivals, shows, career days, and promotes Metro Parks through public contact.
Performs special projects and other duties as requested or assigned.
Qualifications
Must be at least 19 years of age.
Education/Experience: Possession of a High School diploma or G.E.D. Additional education or experience in customer service, environmental science/natural resources/conservation or related field preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, local law enforcement personnel; ability to complete routine forms.
Team-Oriented: Works on a team. Outstanding customer service, communications and interpersonal skills.
Attendance: Being present at work is an essential function of the position.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, talk and hear, operate two-way radio and light motorized equipment, sit, work with hands, drive park vehicles, ride bicycles, operate off-road/utility vehicles, and golf carts, etc. The employee is frequently required to use hands to complete reports, use personal computers, etc.
Work Environment: While performing the regular duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee may spend a portion of the time working in the shop and/or office. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Additional Information: Knowledge of safety practices and procedures, basic building and grounds maintenance. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, local law enforcement personnel and the general public; ability to operate power equipment and tools. Candidate must satisfactorily complete a background investigation. Required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. We have immediate openings for Archaeology Field Technicians for projects located in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and Kentucky, which are ongoing and starting soon. These include a Phase III investigation of a major Fort Ancient village site and Phase I, II investigations of Woodland period sites in the Scioto Valley. Field technicians will be working under the supervision of a Field Supervisor and/or Principal Investigator. The ongoing and future projects should see work through the late summer.
The work will involve archaeological excavation (i.e., test units), feature documentation, mapping and profiling, shovel testing, surface survey, and screening for artifacts. Phase III investigations are primarily in heated tents.
Minimum requirements include an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field; field school or archaeological field experience (previous work in Cultural Resource Management preferred); good organizational skills; and ability to maintain neat and accurate field notes. Pay starts at $20/hr and is based on experience. Per-diem ($41/day) and lodging is provided for all project work requiring overnight stays away from your home office, and paid sick time accrual is offered.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the general direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation, the Manager of Parks and Open Space is responsible to lead, manage, and implement a systematic plan for the operation and care of parks, open space, cemeteries, trails, athletic fields, and trees. Responsible for the appropriate use and allocation of resources in order to achieve division goals and objectives. Formulates plans, procedures, goals, and objectives, and directly supervises all levels and types of employees in the Parks and Open Space Division. Manages the creation of accreditation standards and will maintain ongoing adherence to the standards, as well as policy and procedure.
Responsible to identify and analyze efficiency improvement opportunities throughout the division, implement needed changes, and manage the change process to realize those improvements. Prepares annual operating budget recommendations and works with the Director in establishing and implementing long-term capital improvement plans for the Division. Maintains ongoing oversight of the operational budget, managing and approving expenditures. Responsible for employee supervision, management, performance, and development. Administers employee orientation and development training. Recommends hires, promotions and corrective actions. Manages annual seasonal hiring process.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with a Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resources Management, Park Management, Turf Management or closely related field with five (5) years related experience, or a Master's Degree in Natural Resources Management, Park Management, Turf Management, or a related field; and three (3) years of related experience.
A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of this position may be considered in lieu of stated education and experience requirements. Thorough knowledge of the current principles and practices of responsible Parks, Forestry, and/or open space management. Strong organizational, administrative, and coordinating skills and the ability to motivate staff to meet deadlines, work within budget, and to engender a team approach to projects. A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience and project planning is preferred.
Criminal background, drug testing, and driving record checks required prior to employment.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License required. A Supervisory Pesticide Applicators License is preferred or must be obtained within 12 months of the start of this position.

Summary
Position Highlights:
The Environmental Services Specialty Technician's primary responsibility is disinfecting
Specialty areas such as Infusion Pharmacy, Sterile Processing, Operating Rooms, Procedure Rooms, Cell Therapy. As part of the Spill Response Team, deactivates and decontaminates chemotherapy and other hazardous agent spills. Responsible for reducing the spread of bacteria and infection as well as providing an environment that appears clean, fresh, and polished. This position performs a variety of duties that support the department in maintaining a clean environment for patients and staff. This includes cleaning and disinfecting other areas as needed.
Responsibilities:
* Clean spills containing blood or other potentially infectious material using established infection control, safety, and ES departmental procedures.
* Occasionally may have to work at off-site locations.
* Follow departmental and other regulatory standards regarding all cleaning policies and procedures (using proper disinfectants, labeling chemical bottles, keeping an organized cart, etc.)
* Perform all essential functions following established safety and infection control requirements (perform hand hygiene, wear PPE, etc.)
* Safely uses, dilutes, and stores chemicals and cleaning materials.

APTIM has openings for a Environmental Technician to work in a team to perform solid waste composition assessments of client waste containers ranging in size from 3 cubic yards to 40 cubic yards. These assessments are typically 1-2 days in duration with typical team sizes ranging from 2 to 5 depending on the size of the assessment.
Work activities will include sorting through solid waste using hand tools to segregate waste items by type for the purpose of assessing various types of waste including plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, food waste and regulated materials. Assisting with the separation of the waste, weighing and inventorying items for the purpose of data analysis and reporting.
Work requires the ability to bend and lift 30 pounds or less, willingness to work in Tyvek safety suits, wear required safety equipment, and ability to work on your feet for up to 8 hours.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Sort solid waste into material categories including plastics, paper, cardboard, food waste, regulated waste, etc.
Use hand tools to sort waste and ability to lift and move items 30 pounds or less.

This position reports to the Gas Operations Manager and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). The GCCS consists of a series of extraction points known as wells, interconnected via piping. The collected gas is transported using gas conveyance equipment (such as a fan or blower). Landfill gas (LFG) collected by this extraction system from the landfill's wellfield is combusted within a flare. Proper operation of the GCCS is required to comply with various State and Federal environmental regulations.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Properly operate and maintain GCCS in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize performance.
GCCS operation and maintenance includes:
Calibrate, operate and maintain sensitive electronic data collection devices necessary to optimize LFG collection from the wellfield.
Collect and manage data entry from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring locations.
Implement the GCCS preventative maintenance plan.
Operate and maintain liquid management system pneumatic or electric driven pumps (troubleshoot and determine liquid levels within liquid containment structures and or LFG collection wells).
Perform wellfield valve/vacuum adjustments, data collection and maintenance; interpret data.
Use Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping materials and associated equipment to perform maintenance on piping materials.
Complete the WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training.
Develop basic understanding of environmental regulations related to GCCS operations and develop the ability to work within an environmentally regulated industry.
Follow job related health and safety requirements and procedures.
Available for on-call response to GCCS related malfunction event(s).
III. Qualifications
A. Required Qualifications
Valid and unrestricted driver's license
B. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in environmental fieldwork, construction, electrical, mechanical, or other hands-on work environments
Working knowledge of gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, or flare systems
Technical or trade school training in environmental science, mechanical systems, instrumentation, or a related field
Experience working with Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping and components
Experience using data logging systems
Mechanical aptitude or prior experience in mechanical maintenance, including troubleshooting systems with pumps, motors, or pneumatic equipment
Fundamental knowledge of computer data entry and interpretation
Ability to work independently in field environments with minimal supervision
