2nd Shift - $2.50 per hr
3rd Shift - $3.50 per hr
Weekends - $2.50 per hr
CDL Incentive: $2.00 per hr
Position Summary: A Penske Refrigeration Technician will diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair all series of motor truck and trailer equipment with the primary focus on all refrigeration unit maintenance equipment designed for commercial trucks and trailers. Major Responsibilities: • Perform all levels of maintenance services, with the primary focus on all refrigeration unit such as Carrier and/or Thermo King commercial refrigeration equipment designed for commercial trucks and trailers. • Be able to test lines, components, and connections using electrical, mechanical and pneumatic test equipment • Read complex schematics associated with the refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. • Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order • Maintain work area appearance and safety • Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly. • Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner • Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists. • Provide additional support regarding preventative maintenance and tractor trailer maintenance as required by location management • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications. • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Qualifications: • 6 years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required • High school diploma or equivalent required • Vocational/Technical or certification preferred • Specialized training and experience in the overhaul of refrigeration components required • ASE Certification preferred • 608/609 certifications preferred • Proficiency in the use of all necessary tools of trade required • Current CDL license with air brake certification preferred • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook required • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment is required • The associate will be required to understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management • The associate must be able to perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies; including but not limited to the correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practice. • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job • As this position requires driving Penske and customer vehicles, it is regulated by the DOT and requires a current driver qualification file to be maintained as required by the role. The driver qualification file includes: an annual motor vehicle records (MVR) check, a successfully completed DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records request from prior employers in the last 3 years. Additionally, CDL holders will have a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and subject to a FMCSA Clearinghouse review. • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. Operate metalworking machines to fabricate housings, jigs, fittings, and fixtures
Repair, rework, and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies and systems to meet operational specifications and tolerances
Prepare parts sketches and write work orders
Review project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan requirements fabrication, assembly and testing
Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products such as industrial machinery or equipment, and measuring instruments
Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications
Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information
Research, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles
Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations
Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications
Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems
Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems
Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers and field representatives as necessary to procure replacement parts
Maintain system logs and manuals to document testing and operation of equipment
Strict adherence to lock out tag out procedures
Authorization Level:
Able to stop production when equipment related quality issues are present
Education and Experience:
Requires experience in electrical installation and maintenance work on plant electrical systems and equipment
Requires experience in mechanical installation and maintenance work on plant systems and equipment
Requires experience in hydraulics and pneumatics
Requires a broad knowledge of controls and mechanisms
Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting
Experienced with remote IO design and operation
Experienced with robot programming and troubleshooting
Experienced with AC/DC drive motor operation, adjustment, and troubleshooting
Experience with Siemens PLC and electrical operation a plus
Requires a broad knowledge of controls and mechanisms
5+ years of experience in the electrical maintenance field
Strong knowledge of plant maintenance
Maintain working knowledge of state-of-the-art tools or software by reading or attending conferences, workshops or other training
The ability to work in a team environment, which includes being self-motivated, accepting responsibilities, completing assigned action items, and participating in a proactive manner in all team events
A high school diploma or equivalent is An associate's degree in technical field is preferred but not required
Good problem solving skills are very important!
Good interpersonal and communication skills required

Required Qualifications:
• Completion of Technical School + 5 years experience (6-8 years of experience can substitute no schooling).
• Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints.
• Be familiar with a wide range of equipment and troubleshooting techniques.
• Experience making repair and replace decisions.
• Advanced customer service skills.
• Acquire NATE certifications within one year of employment for Paid Bonus!
• Knowledge of basic sheet metal practices.
• Knowledge of air balancing principles and techniques.
• Universal EPA Certification
• Possess required tools
