    Advocate and support the Corporate WIN Strategy by managing the plating operations in the assigned Value Stream. Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality standards for products and processes. Provides statistical information for quality improvement by gathering data on trends and root cause analysis. Responsible to guide technical evaluation, analysis, and related data acquisition processes to ensure plant plating objectives are achieved. Has Direct Reports. Responsibilities * Evaluates electroplating chemistry and process analytical methods to assure effectiveness and accuracy of process control. * Establish and execute plating line tank chemistry change and cleanout schedule * Manage waste treatment process and reporting to assure all applicable environmental regulations are being met. Work with local governmental agencies ensure compliance. * Assesses electroplating system performance, uptime and productivity using statistical and analytical methods. * Prepares reports by collecting, interpreting, analyzing and summarizing data and making recommendations for continuous improvement. Analyzes proposed changes in chemistry and process. * Creates and maintains Work Instructions and conducts training and certification of operators. * Establishes and assures execution of Preventative Maintenance program for plating laboratory equipment and Plating line * Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing industry networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and/or participating in other professional associations. * Develop and implement action plans based on results of chemical analysis / maintenance issues * Work with Production Control and Operations Leadership to align plating line planned downtime to production requirements * Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues on the plating line to ensure optimal functionality, working alongside maintenance team / other resources * Operational leadership including successful Lean implementation resulting in productivity gains. * Creates the basis for continuous improvement and employee empowerment by ensuring that standardized work/processes are followed, countermeasures implemented and the area is compliant with safety requirements. Qualifications * Bachelors degree (BS) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. * Minimum 3 years of experience in electroplating, including demonstrated knowledge of related chemicals, controls and mechanical systems. * Ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement techniques to manufacturing functions. * Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools. * Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders and top management. * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback and self-development activities. * Six Sigma and Lean tools experience is desired. RESPONSIBILITIES * Materials and Processes research and development of new configuration, new product and development or introduction for thermal management and gas turbine fuel systems including manifolds, valves and fuel nozzles utilizing state of the art materials and joining processes. * Subject matter expertise in heat treatment, vacuum and induction brazing, GTAW, EB and Laser welding, forgings, castings, coatings and chemical processing methods. * Support materials issues, metallographic preparation and evaluation, SEM/EDS, materials failure investigation and analysis, fatigue, stress, fracture mechanism, fractorgraphy corrosion analysis, knowledge with ability to provide support to other engineering disciplines as well as management and customers. * Thorough understanding of all metallurgical aspects of Iron-base alloys, Stainless steels, Ni, Co, Ti Al and composite materials. * Knowledge and acumen within raw material processing of metallics, ceramics and composites, additive manufacturing of materials including stainless steels Aluminum, Ni-base superalloys and non-metallics. * Interface with customers offering guidance and manufacturability on materials and process as it relates to customer systems or interface condition and environments. * Support production operation with improving process yields and reducing scrap through lab and 6-sigma driven investigations. * Write comprehensive, detailed and concise reports that include preparation and delivery in MS Office applications and deliver through stand up or vitual presentations. * Possess familiarity with AS9100, Nadcap and FAA regulations with ability to make improvements to quality management processes. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager plans, organizes and leads the plant's Manufacturing Engineering, Tool Room, and Facilities functions for the Professional Tools Elyria Manufacturing Plant. This position reports directly to the Director of Advanced Manufacturing. Key responsibilities include leading a team of Manufacturing Engineers and/or Applications Engineering Specialists, Industrial Engineers, Site Facilities Manager, and Tool Room employees, building organizational capability, providing direction for new product launches, productivity, and reduction of overall production cost, while meeting production schedules. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is also expected to support capital projects and provide cost estimates for such projects and fiscal year planning. Additionally, this position is a key member of the Operations Management leadership team, providing input for long-term strategic issues and plans. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Manufacturing, Industrial, and Production Engineers, the Tool Room and Facilities to ensure each area of the plant has adequate production support coverage, clear process ownership, and proactive support. Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback, coaching, and development planning, and champion a culture of ownership, data-driven decision-making, robust problem-solving, and continuous improvement. Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to): * Plan, execute, and functionally support customer design and development projects as assigned in accordance with safety practices, industry specifications, company policies, department procedures, and business group needs. * Strategize and thoroughly complete product design updates, new product order requirements, and process improvements. * Organize, document, and communicate design projects with transparency, timeliness, and in complete detail with internal and external customers in mind. * Provide product fit, form, and function support to all business groups. * Create engineering test reports, bulletins, drawings, work instructions, and assembly procedures in a timely and professional manner. * Perform engineering evaluations, problem solve, and implement creative solutions to internal and external customer issues. * Research and approve or reject deviation requests from production floor, suppliers, and foundries. * Evaluate, prove with data, and implement product design changes. * Validate designs are acceptable through design of experiment (DoE) lab testing, quantifiable measurements, and industry qualification methods. * Create and maintain documentation of designs, testing, and other project data in accordance with company procedures. * Read and interpret industry, customer, and internal codes and standards applicable to the valve industry. * Increase product knowledge through taking on ownership of projects, reading internal and external product and process specifications, shop floor walks, discussions with senior personnel, documentation of problem solving solutions. * Achieve specific and curated personal and professional development goals agreed upon with the product engineering team lead. * Partake in internal and external growth development paths related to the business: CRANE Business System processes, kaizen participation, ISO 9001:2015 Auditor Training, etc. * Recommend innovative solutions to enhance and improve the quality of departmental and/or company-wide business activities. * Knowledgeable of competitor products in the market. * Performs other duties as required. Essential Qualifications / Experience: * Minimum 4-year degree in a Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Engineering Design field. * Minimum 2 years of experience OR 3 Co-op related rotations. (Valve industry, manufacturing, machining, fabrication, foundry). * Leadership to drive actions in cross-functional teams for problem solving product and design issues. * Technically proficient and adaptability to learn new software systems (Microsoft Office, Excel, QAD). * Understanding and experience in reading industry codes and material specifications (ex. ASTM, ANSI, API). * Design of Experiment (DoE) and data collection to validate design changes and process issues. * Strong 2D & 3D CAD experience (CREO, Pro-E, SolidWorks, CIMCAD, Windchill). * ERP experience preferred (QAD). * Time management of multiple high priority tasks. * Strong written and verbal skills, professionally interact with suppliers, customers, and shop floor personnel. * Design for Manufacturability an Lean Manufacturing experience preferred. * DFMEA/PFMEA and Continuous Improvement experience preferred. #CPE This description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work being performed by employees within this classification.
