Overview
An employee in this class manages a team that oversee special projects and activities that contribute to a statewide Parks and Conservation program, including recreation, education, interpretation, volunteer, non-profit and/or resource management projects. This is the management job classification in the series and differs from that of Park Project Manager in that the latter coordinates training, cultivates best practices for the field, leads special projects, and may supervise assigned staff. This classification differs from that of a Parks & Conservation Director in that the incumbent of the latter manages supervisors of multiple teams.
Responsibilities
1. Provides Consultation- Develops plans and/or advises their team on strategies to implement protect and promote natural and cultural resources through research of like agencies and development with stakeholders. Develops presentations to management regarding practical applications and potential benefits of Parks & Conservation programs and projects such as interpretive program delivery, land and real estate, and natural resources.
2. Supervision- Supervises and coordinates the projects of staff as assigned. Clearly communicates expectations to employees and colleagues and follows up with assigning goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, reasonable, and time specific (S.M.A.R.T.) and reports performance through the individual performance plan system for all full-time employees.
3. Resource Management- Utilizes best practices to identify, protect, and promote natural and cultural resources. Lead and conduct activities, including boundary marking and investigations, trail management, scientific studies, fire management, habitat improvement, invasive species removal, permitted hunts, volunteer activities, and more.
4. Communication with External Stakeholders- Negotiates and develops contracts and agreements with individuals and organizations. Collaborates with state, local, and federal agencies, non-government
organizations, and contractors.
5. Cultivates Innovation- Develops new best practices to protect and promote natural and cultural resources through research of like agencies and development with stakeholders. May manage staff who coordinate recreation, education, interpretive, and/or resource management projects.

COLORADO PARKS AND WILDLIFE

This unit works in conjunction with the other 19 State Fish Hatcheries to spawn, hatch, rear, and stock cold water and native aquatic species into the waters of Colorado according to the approved "Fish Stocking Schedule" for the benefit of the people of the State of Colorado and its visitors. This unit produces approximately 650,000 catchable-size trout and 2.5 million sub-catchable trout annually.
This position exists to direct, guide, oversee, and monitor the day-to-day operations of the Rifle Falls Hatchery to support statewide fish production goals and objectives by delegating, training, guiding, and evaluating one Technician IV and six Technician III's. It plans, develops, and monitors capital construction projects, stocking schedules, maintenance schedules, and budgets. This position directs water quality and quantity management for the facility. Monitors, approves, and procures materials, supplies, and equipment necessary to ensure proper growth, health, and survival of fish while meeting annual production goals and staying within an established annual budget. It directs and provides 24-hour security and is on an "on-call" status. It provides all documentation and reports requested, and records and maintains accurate information on the Hatchery.
Administration
Execute and implement the policies, directives, rules, and regulations of State and Federal agencies. Attend and represent the hatchery at meetings with other staff, interagency personnel, and the public. Compose and approve reports, records, and correspondence.
Supervision and Training
Supervises one Technician IV, six Technician III's, temporary positions, and volunteers. Formulates, delegates, and oversees daily work schedules for the crew. Interviews, hires, informs, advises, counsels, trains, evaluates, and rewards employees. Oversees and assists as needed with daily hatchery and rearing unit operations such as: feeding fish, sorting and moving fish, loading fish, stocking fish, cleaning troughs and raceways, water analysis, water flow management, and fish health management. Assists the Deputy Assistant Director - Hatchery Team with performance evaluation input for employees. Authorizes leave, travel, and training activities. Counsels and mediates employee concerns and conflicts.
Fish Culture and Distribution
Formulates, delegates, and oversees daily work activities and schedules. Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for the unit. Anticipates problems and adjusts fish egg requests, fish production, and operating plans to achieve unit and Statewide goals. Communicates feed chart updates, fish sorts, moves, and transfers to employees through verbal and written communication. Analyzes, audits, and records fish production data. Fish Health and Pathology
Monitors, analyzes, and diagnoses fish health problems through visual, microscopic, and anatomical inspections. Prescribes, administers, and evaluates drug and chemical treatments, measures and calculates water flows and fish weights for dosages, contacts fish pathologist for assistance if necessary, and maintains daily records of chemicals or drugs used in fish treatments. Formulates and oversees disease prevention and disinfection policies and activities for the fish unit. Complies with INAD regulations and requirements related to drug and chemical treatments of fish.
Water Chemistry and Flow Management
Monitors, adjusts, and records water flows throughout the fish unit. Technically analyzes water quality parameters including oxygen, pH, ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, and chlorine with precision instruments (spectrophotometer, saturometer, etc.) to maintain fish health and meet water discharge permit regulations (where appropriate). Observes and records unit operating parameters such as weir and flow meter readings, inlet temperatures, and valve and pump settings. Manipulates water quality to maximize fish health and growth by adding aeration or oxygen, or by changing flow regimes.
Unit, Vehicle, and Equipment Maintenance
Operates various heavy-duty equipment, vehicles, and hand equipment and performs grounds and equipment maintenance and repair. Ensures adherence to State Fleet Management maintenance schedules and record keeping.
Safety and Security
Develops, oversees, and executes emergency and safety plans for fish unit operations. Patrols, secures, and protects grounds, property, and fish by being on an "on-call" status after normal working hours and being required to live on the fish unit. Secures safe storage and handling of all hazardous materials and develops plans to provide for the safety of employees and visitors, including complying with all Risk Management and Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. Attends training administered by the Safety & Loss Control Specialist of the State Office of Risk Management.
Public Relations

Job Description
Assists with daily activities of shipping department regarding materials movement or handling, receiving, loading, unloading, transporting, stacking, order filling and shipping printed product. Performs manual and clerical duties related to the preparation and shipment of customer samples and finished product mailed primarily through Fed Ex, UPS, USPS and other similar carriers. Ensures product is produced and prepared according to customer specifications and service level agreements. Shift is Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 6 pm.
Responsibilities:
* Performs manual and clerical duties related to the shipment and receipt of materials, supplies, equipment and finished products shipped via freight or third party LTL carrier
* Typical shipping activities include: checking goods against shipping documents and authorizations, packing goods for shipment according to specifications, preparing bills of lading, posting weight and shipping charges and attach information and shipping instructions on to boxes
* Perform typical activities related to receiving materials such as unloading trucks; checking against bills of lading, packing slips, etc., identification and quantity; maintaining records of goods received
* Perform routine, but varied duties in support of manufacturing areas in accordance with standard procedures
* Maintain necessary files and documentation.
* Utilize small hand tools and operates material handling equipment including forklifts, skids, pallet handlers, hand trucks, etc. to stage materials and load trucks
* May perform activities related to load planning of outbound trucks to meet customer delivery requirements and cost parameters
* Apply knowledge of department policies and procedures to resolve customer and operational concerns/issues as needed
* Effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, customer service, and production

Qualifications
* HS diploma or GED is preferred

* Have a strong knowledge of required information systems, including materials tracking systems, storage and retrieval systems, inventory control systems and applicable reporting systems which may include spreadsheets, databases and other materials receipt and usage systems.
* Must have very good knowledge of technology to include computers and software programs.
* Must have very good oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively across departments when completing assignments

POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the general direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation, the Manager of Parks and Open Space is responsible to lead, manage, and implement a systematic plan for the operation and care of parks, open space, cemeteries, trails, athletic fields, and trees. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with a Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resources Management, ParkManagement, Turf Management or closely related field with five (5) years related experience, or a Master's Degree in Natural Resources Management, ParkManagement, Turf Management, or a related field; and three (3) years of related experience.
A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of this position may be considered in lieu of stated education and experience requirements. Essential Functions:
* Ensure accuracy of item description and counts for all incoming and outgoing shipments.
* Ensure accuracy of all UPC numbers for all incoming and outgoing shipments.
* Ensure accuracy when filling out Manifest/Bill of Lading.
* Ensure accuracy and maintain IBT Seal Log for both incoming and outgoing deliveries.
* Run Order Pool (To maintain "on time" Purchase Orders).
* Record and file all incoming and outgoing Purchase Orders.
* Ensure GRB and any AVs are current and accurate.
* Ensure Receiving CRT is entering all receivings on a daily basis.
* File all Driver Logs.
* Ensure Receiving CRT Clerk has all deliveries properly scheduled.
* Monthly self audits being performed; action items addressed.
* Maintain open channel of communications with Logistics Department.
* Unload, Verify, Record, and Label all Cross-Dock Pickups.
* Ensure all Safety Policies are being adhered to in department.
* Ensure all HACCP guidelines are in place and according to plan.

* Performs other work-related duties as required and assigned.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
* Bachelor's Degree, OR
* High School Diploma or GED with at least 4 years experience in customer service, OR
* Any appropriate combination of education and experience.
* Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and general public
* Ability to calculate figures, and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, mass and volume.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situation and documentation.
