Primary Purpose
Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with established protocols and multidisciplinary plan of care utilizing independent, dependent, and interdependent interventions to restore stability, prevent complications, and achieve and maintain optimal patient responses for all patients through patient centered/patient valued care.
Minimum Specifications
Education: Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Prefer Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Experience: Must have two years of ICU/CCU experience.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
- Must have current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
- Must have current Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification on hire or placement in role.
- Must have current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from one of the following
American Heart Association
American Red Cross
Military Training Network.

Responsibilities
Serves as a patient advocate, by focusing on patient needs, patient rights, confidentiality, and religious and cultural preferences. Maintains positive working relationships with all Parkland internal and external customers, employees, etc. Serves as a resource for patients and other healthcare team members. Serves as a resource for specific clinical patient care issues. Provides patient care educational information and training to patient and family members.
Performs appropriate patient assessments including continuous surveillance. Recognizes changes in a patient s condition and provides appropriate interventions as necessary. Consults with other team members as required, notifies providers to report changes in patient condition and implements orders in a timely manner. Exercises independent judgment in providing safe nursing care to the critically ill/stable patient.
Must be able to manage an adult ICU patient with neurological, pulmonary, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, genitourinary disorders/conditions. Must provide safe medical administration using the patient s six (6) rights, provide maintenance and management of IV access, must be able to perform POC monitoring, demonstrate safe infection control practices and CRRT for the adult ICU patient. Supports pain management as appropriate for each individual patient, provides emergency resuscitation care of an adult and provides an individualized plan of care.
Maintains and implements knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact or govern nursing practice, and ensures the hospital and Parkland are in compliance. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Maintains and updates knowledge of sanitation, infection control, safety, supplies, equipment, appropriate utilization of supplies and materials.
Completes appropriate documentation. Maintains accurate and timely entries and notations in patient care records and hospital documents. Ensures that all records and documents meet the standards, goals, and objectives of the Adult ICU/Critical Care department and Parkland.
Works with other staff in providing direction to non-nursing staff. Participates in information exchanges with nursing and other Parkland staff that support the standards, missions, goals and objectives of the Adult ICU/Critical Care department and Parkland. Seeks and utilizes direction from more experience staff and team members as needed. Provides appropriate hand off any time care is relinquished. Serves as a preceptor or trainer to newer nursing staff members, as needed.

PRIMARY PURPOSE
The RN is a licensed professional who uses the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN utilizes knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee.
MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

PRIMARY PURPOSE
The RN is a licensed professional who uses the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN utilizes knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS
Education: Graduate of a Registered Nursing program, Bachelor's in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred.
Experience: Must have 2+ years of nursing experience. Prefer experience in an acute care setting.
Certification/Registration/Licensure:
- Must have current RN license or valid temporary license with the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.

Primary Purpose
Responsible for coordinating pre/post-transplant patient care throughout all phases of the transplant process. This includes, but is not limited to, providing patient education, coordinating evaluation testing, completing record reviews, communication with dialysis centers, preparing for selection committee presentations, and post-transplant care that includes all aspects of follow up care with dialysis units, Parkland staff, UT Southwestern Medical School, and other providers to ensure optimal transplant outcomes.
Minimum Specifications
Education: Must be a clinician licensed by the State plus 4+ years experience working with transplant patients .
Must have a bachelor's degree in nursing plus 2+ years experience working with transplant patients OR Must have an Associate Degree, or Diploma in Nursing plus 4+ years of experience working with transplant patients.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
- Clinician must have current, valid license from applicable state of the Texas Board; or, if an RN, a valid Compact RN license.
- Must have current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from one of the following:
American Heart Association
American Red Cross
Military Training Network
Skills or Special Abilities
- If an RN, provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
- Must demonstrate knowledge and skill in the outpatient process pertinent to transplant patients.
- Strong patient education and multidisciplinary communication skills required.
- Must demonstrate knowledge and skill in meeting age related and handicapped patient's needs.
- Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
Responsibilities
Transitions patients through all of the phases of the pre/post-transplant process including pre-transplant (referral, evaluation, listing), peri-transplant (inpatient rounding, discharge planning, and education), and post-transplant follow-up.
Directs liaison activities to appropriately integrate the patient into the health care continuum including procuring services, health promotion and counseling, disease prevention, health education and screening, and community resource linkage.
Assists physicians with exam, provides consultation on patient progress, locates lab results, charts or other needed data and schedules follow-up appointments to ensure that patient visits are efficient and effective for both staff and patient.
Triages telephone calls, refers patients to emergency room or schedules appointments. Evaluates and educates patients regarding the signs and symptoms of rejection, explains hospital policies and procedures to ensure that all telephone communications promote positive health practices and outcomes.
Implements discharge plan for patient to ensure coordinated care and optimal outcomes. Reviews physician treatment plan and educates patient regarding medications, appointments and lab work. Coordinates home health care concerns by contacting physicians and obtaining orders or clarification and communicating back to the agency.
Completes necessary UNOS and other forms, obtains data from out of state and other sources to ensure that complete and accurate records are maintained.
Maintains a positive working relationship with management, vendors, employees, other hospitals and physicians, dialysis units and centers, lab and nursing staff to ensure optimal cooperation and communication with all patient service providers.
Coordinates referrals to outside nephrologists. Discusses case with nurse, obtains necessary patient release form, explains process to patient. Follows up on any missed appointments to ensure patient compliance.
Identifies and analyzes the design of jobs, work processes and flows for the Transplant OPC department and suggests or implements appropriate changes to improve effectiveness, productivity and efficiency that support the overall goals of Parkland.
Active participation in transplant department Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities.

Primary Summary
Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with established protocols and multidisciplinary plan of care utilizing independent, dependent, and interdependent interventions to restore stability, prevent complications, and achieve and maintain optimal patient responses for all patients through patient centered/patient valued care.
Minimum Specifications:
Education:
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Prefer Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Experience:
Must have two years of experience of Mother Baby experience.
Equivalent Experience: None
Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Must have current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing; or valid Compact RN license.
Must have current NRP certification upon hire or placement in role. Current incumbents will have 90 days from April 15, 2025, to attain the certification. Certification must be from one of the following:

As applicable, will be required to demonstrate acceptable knowledge of nursing standards of care for specialty care area.
Responsibilities
1. Serves as a patient advocate, by focusing on patient needs, patient rights, confidentiality, and religious and cultural preferences. Maintains positive working relationships with all Parkland internal and external customers, employees, etc. Serves as a resource for patients and other healthcare team members. Utilizes effective verbal and non-verbal communication facilitating development of a therapeutic relationship and environment that promotes wellness. Serves as a resource for specific clinical patient care issues. Provides patient care educational information and training to patient and family members.
2. Maintains and implements knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact or govern nursing practice, and ensures the hospital and Parkland are in compliance. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Maintains and updates knowledge of sanitation, infection control, safety, supplies, equipment, appropriate utilization of supplies and materials.
3. Performs appropriate patient assessments including continuous surveillance. Recognizes changes in a patient's condition and provides appropriate interventions as necessary. Consults with other team members as required, notifies providers to report changes in patient condition and implements orders in a timely manner. Exercises independent judgment in providing safe nursing care to the stable neonate, post-partum and antepartum patient.
4. Supports breastfeeding and provides education related to newborn care. Provides safe medication administration using the patients six (6) rights, provide maintenance and management of IV access, must be able to perform POC monitoring and demonstrate safe infection control practices. Supports appropriate positioning, assessment and management of pain and provides emergency resuscitation care to the neonate and post/ante partum population.
5. Completes appropriate documentation. Maintains accurate and timely entries and notations in patient care records and hospital documents. Ensures that all records and documents meet the standards, goals, and objectives of the Post Partum or Ante Partum department and Parkland.
6. Works with other staff in providing direction to non-nursing staff. Provides appropriate hand off any time care is relinquished. Participates in information exchanges with nursing and other Parkland staff that support the standards, missions, goals and objectives of the department and Parkland.
7. Seeks and utilizes direction from more experience staff and team members as needed.
8. Serves as a preceptor or trainer to newer nursing staff members, as needed.
9. Identifies ways to improve work process and improve patient and customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the Post Partum department and Parkland.
10. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in nursing practice by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals and actively participating in professional organizations. Maintains State of Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse, plus any additional required licensures/certifications. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
11. Performs other work as requested that is reasonably related to the employee's position, qualifications, and competencies.
