Kaiser Permanente - Southern California Permanente Medical Group has an opening for the Medical Physics Residency Program in Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine. The residency program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP). The program provides structured training and progress assessment in all aspects of clinical medical physics in diagnostic imaging and nuclear medicine, with direct supervision by the medical physics faculty. Training occurs in 15 regional hospitals and affiliated medical offices across Southern California. The curriculum provides comprehensive, mentored, hands-on experience, and progressive responsibility providing the opportunity to work towards becoming fully independent upon completion of the program. The medical physics resident will be expected to work in this training position for 3 years to qualify for both ABR Diagnostic and Nuclear Medical Physics certification exams. Radiologic Technologists working on or before October 05 at Kaiser Permanente WITHOUT California Venipuncture Certification in a Modality where it is NOT performed as part of their work assignment will not be required to obtain it. For promotions, transfers or training in a Specialty that requires Venipuncture, the Technologist must obtain CA Venipuncture certification on or before the date of application. The employer will provide the Technologist with educational opportunities in order to pass the California permit test at the Technologists request. We can't wait to meet you! Essential Functions The MRI Technologist operates the Magnetic Resonance operations at SimonMed Imaging centers. Knowledge of magnetic resonance imaging procedures and technology Operates a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images used by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies Selects appropriate imaging techniques, and operates console and peripheral hardware; enters and monitors patient data, transfers images from disk to magnetic media to produce the transparency, and develops film in automatic processor Obtains images, produces film records and backups from disk to storage media, and transfers from desk to PACS stations Maintains accurate study documentation Performs a variety of tasks A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required Demonstrates competency in the performance of job-related skills appropriate to his/her customer populations and departmental services while providing excellent customer service. Utilizes and operates equipment and mechanical devices which provide for a functional, effective, and safe environment. Adheres to policies, procedures, guidelines relative to departmental operations.
