Our Morning star program provide a safe and structured environment for Women in recovery, while our Residential Counselors assist our clients in developing a drug and alcohol-free, self-supporting lifestyle.
As a Residential Counselor, you will:
Understand the program's policies, routines and regulations.
Interpret and enforce the policies, procedures, rules and regulations at all times in a consistent manner and in keeping with their intent regarding the delivery of services to the residents in care.
Remain alert to problem identification and crisis resolution as required.
Attend in-service training sessions, conferences and/or workshops as required and authorized by the Program Director.
Participate in monthly staff meetings and supervision with Senior Counselor.
Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the residents.
Conduct scheduled group meetings with residents as needed.
Drive clients to meetings, treatment, etc.
Observe and record residents' medication usage.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Note: Youth Peer Advocates are individuals between 18-30 years of age who self-identify as a person with first-hand experience with a social, emotional, medical, developmental, substance use, and/or behavioral challenges as a young person or have received services in any one of the child-serving systems (juvenile justice, foster care, special education, or addiction recovery). YPAs use their lived experience to promote resiliency, recovery, wellness, and self-efficacy in young people and promote the practice of youth-guided and family-driven approaches.

Self-Advocacy, Self-Efficacy, and Empowerment:
Developing, linking, and facilitating the use of formal and informal services, including connection to peer support groups in the community.
Serving as an advocate, mentor, or facilitator for resolution of issues.
Assisting in navigating the service system including assisting with engagement and bridging during transitions in care.
Helping youth develop self-advocacy skills (e.g., may attend a Committee on Preschool or Special Education meeting with the youth and parent, coaching the youth to articulate his educational goals).
Assisting youth with gaining and regaining the ability to make independent choices and assist youth in playing a proactive role in their own treatment (assisting/mentoring them in discussing questions or concerns about medications, diagnoses or treatment approaches with their treating clinician). The YPA guides the youth to effectively communicate their individual perspective to providers and families.

Community Connections and Natural Supports:
Connecting youth to community resources and services. The YPA may accompany youth to appointments and meetings for the purpose of mentoring and support but not for the sole purpose of providing transportation for the youth.
Helping youth develop a network for information and support from others who have been through similar experiences, including locating similar interest programs, peer-run programs, and support groups.
Facilitating or arranging youth peer resiliency/recovery support groups.Development and updating of service plans, including obtaining medical consenter signatures.
Obtaining consents and enrollment documents for newly enrolled children/youth.
Attend monthly waiver service provider meetings to stay current on practices and protocols.
Submit progress notes, service plans, expense logs, and service provider logs within set forth-required timeframes. Progress notes are due within 3 days of service provision so that approval from supervisor is completed by the 5th business day following service provision.
Report incident(s) to supervisor upon discovery.
Maintain open communication with other service providers (e.g., Care Manager) to report on child/youth's progress and identify any potential barriers and referrals.
Setting of Service Provision:
YPST can occur in a variety of settings including community locations where the youth lives, works, attends school, engages in services, and/or socializes.
Qualifications - External

The youth peer advocates are personally familiar with associated challenges and available community resources for recipients. The ideal candidate for this position will have exemplary written and verbal communication skills. The youth peer advocate should be knowledgeable in community resources available to recipients/families the program will serve. The individual in this role should have computer skills - Microsoft office.
Responsibilities:
Educate recipients about self-help techniques and self-help group processes.
Teach effective coping strategies based on personal lived experience.
Teach symptom management skills.
Assist in clarifying rehabilitation.
Attend required meetings.
Maintain documentation/reports.
Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
required
NYS Peer Advocate credential is required within 30 days of employment.
Experience:
Must self-identify as a person who has first-hand experience with social, emotional, medical, developmental, substance use, and/or behavioral challenges or has received services in any one of the child serving systems juvenile justice, foster care, special education, addiction recovery.
Must be between 22-30 years of age

Position Summary: This role is based on personal experience, not educational or professional qualifications. Applicants must be the PARENT or Guardian of a child involved with service providers (e.g., DSS, CPS, mental health, OPWDD, substance abuse) or facing challenges like behavioral issues, IEPs, or placement.
The Family Peer Advocate provides support to families raising a child who is experiencing social, emotional, medical, developmental, substance use, or behavioral challenges in their home, school, placement, or community. The Family Peer Advocate engages in a structured strength-based relationship with the parent or caregiver for the benefit of the child. Services are delivered in a trauma informed, culturally and linguistically competent manner. The Family Peer Advocate is an integral part of the CFTSS team.
Responsibilities:
Foster the growth of the parent-child relationship in alignment with the plan and the agency's family-centered practice philosophy.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with the families.
Collaborate with and advocate for families alongside community agencies.
Support parents and caregivers in ensuring the safety and well-being of at-risk children through strength-based interventions and collaboration. Work to reduce feelings of stigma and isolation within families, and promptly communicate any concerns to the supervisor.
Provide safe and reliable transportation for youth, families, and Children's Home affiliates as required by the program. Educate parents and caregivers on navigating and utilizing public transportation.

Position Summary: The Home-Based Crisis Intervention (HBCI) Interventionist provides intensive, short-term, in-home crisis services to children and adolescents ages 5-20 and 11 months who are experiencing acute psychiatric crises that place them at risk for psychiatric hospitalization. Under the supervision of a licensed clinical supervisor, the Interventionist works collaboratively with families to stabilize the crisis, assess needs, and build coping strategies to prevent future hospitalizations.
The Interventionist provides direct support services, assists with treatment planning, and implements behavioral strategies and interventions to promote emotional regulation, problem-solving, and safety within the family environment. The Interventionist also coordinates care with schools, community providers, and other support systems to ensure continuity of care. Services are typically delivered multiple times per week, with flexible scheduling (including evenings and weekends) to meet family needs.
Responsibilities:
Provide supportive clinical services to 2-3 families at a time, conducting regular to daily meetings with each child/youth and family.
Deliver crisis intervention, prevention, and resolution strategies.
Engage in frequent outreach to clients and their families.
Conduct strength-based assessments to understand clients' social determinants of health, mental well-being, resilience to trauma, potential risks, and substance use factors.
Create personalized service plans tailored to individual family needs.
Design and implement effective service delivery strategies.
Collaborate with partner service providers to coordinate comprehensive treatment plans.
Maintain thorough case management records to ensure effective service delivery.
Requirements
Education:
