The Parts Sales Associate sells commercial vehicle and equipment parts to external customers via the counter or over the phone.

Responsibilities:

+ Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.

+ Keep orderly records of all repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special order parts.

+ Issue credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice, or its number, is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified.

+ Participate in all training programs that are made available.

+ Keep current on new products and product updates.

+ Participate in maintaining a lost sales tracking program.

Basic Qualifications:

+ High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

+ Six months' experience in over the counter sales, preferably in a dealership or service setting environment.

+ Familiarity with accounting and inventory tracking software.

What you will be doing:

* Provide auto parts answers and solutions for our retail and wholesale customers in person at the counter/over the phone
* Use your parts knowledge to assist other NAPA team members answer questions for customers
* Providing outstanding customer care and interactions with everyone who comes into our NAPA Store!
* Bring customer focus and high energy to our fast-paced stores

Welcome retail customers into our retail stores and engage to provide a positive consumer experience
* Use technology (computer), cash register, telephone, and paper catalog system

* Have gained your parts experience by working the automotive industry or have gained your experience tinkering with/repairing cars & trucks through the year

What you'll need:

* Valid Driver's License
* Previous experience in a parts store or automotive industry or at least a willingness to learn all things auto parts.
* High School Diploma or GED. Technical or Trade school courses or degree.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Love fast paced retail environments
* Great listening skills and empathy for customers

And if you have this, even better (not a deal breaker if you don't):

* Background and/or passion for automotive industry, heavy equipment, farm industry, diesel, marine, or dealership.
* Experience in a parts store, auction, retail store, auto body/collision
* Knowledge of cataloging AND/OR inventory management systems, a plus
* Entirely customer-centric (external/internal)
* ASE Certifications

SUMMARY
Provides customer service and ring customers out for parts purchases. Completes daily opening and closing duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provides excellent customer service to all walk in and phone customers
• Provides interchange information to assist customers
• Accurately and efficiently operates cash register
• Completes daily opening and closing duties, maintains a clean work area
• Maintains correct cash balances at cash register and ensures that there is sufficient cash in cash drawer
• Process payments made with cash, checks, credit cards, and debit cards
• Maintains awareness of all promotions and advertisements that affect product prices
• Communicates company policies and procedures to customers
  

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Experience handling money and operating a cash register preferred
• Proficiency in English to be able to interact with customers, employees, read reports, and follow instructions, fluency in a second language is a plus
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Basic computer skills
• Knowledge of automotive parts a plus
