The Remote Survey Party Chief (RSPC) position is designed for experienced survey professionals who prefer working independently with periodic communication and updates provided to the reporting department as required. Work remotely while contributing significantly to our projects across the state. As a RSPC, you will manage and execute survey projects from start to finish with minimal on-site supervision, ensuring high-quality results and client satisfaction. This is a full-time position, not contract work.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct surveying activities independently at project sites, ensuring adherence to project specifications and surveying standards.
Manage all aspects of survey projects, including setup, execution, and data collection using the provided surveying equipment and technology.
Maintains accurate records of survey data, field notes, and project documentation.
Provides regular updates and reports on project progress and challenges to supervisors and stakeholders.
Utilize the provided vehicle, tablet, cellphone, and instruments effectively.
Maintain communication with headquarters via email, calls, and Teams for project updates and coordination.
Adhere to all safety protocols and operational procedures to ensure the accuracy and safety of the survey work, including vehicle use policies, safety regulations, and reporting requirements.
Ensure all equipment is in working order and schedule maintenance as needed through HQ.
Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues related to surveying equipment and technology.
Attend mandated meetings at the department office as required, with options for virtual participation if applicable.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in land surveying with a strong understanding of survey techniques and equipment.
Ability to work independently and manage all aspects of survey projects.
Proficiency with surveying instruments, tablets, communication tools, and surveying software.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to adapt to remote work environments and manage time and resources effectively.

Position Summary
Surveyor I - The incumbent assists in conducting surveys and collecting field data for use in the engineering design and monitoring of NPPD facilities in addition to providing construction staking for various projects. The incumbent also functions as a technical resource and generates design drawings, maps, plats, and legal documents, and performs the computation of survey data to support design criteria. This position requires frequent overnight travel for extended periods of time.

Education, Training and Experience
Surveyor I - Associate of applied science degree with emphasis on surveying is preferred (OR) completion of a survey specific training correspondence course (OR) high school diploma/GED plus 3 years' experience as an assistant under a Registered Land Surveyor. Familiarity with the use of AutoCAD and Survey software.
Surveyor II - Associate of applied science degree with emphasis on surveying (OR) completion of a survey specific training correspondence course (OR) high school diploma/GED plus 3 years' experience as an assistant under a Registered Land Surveyor and qualified to be in responsible charge of conducting field surveys related to work such as earthwork quantities, topography, legal land surveys, electric line surveys, monitoring surveys, and construction staking. Surveyor III - Be licensed as a Nebraska Registered Land Surveyor or obtain licensure by reciprocity within 2 years of employment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The incumbent assists in conducting surveys and the collection of other field data for use in the engineering design and monitoring of NPPD facilities.
Provide field staking for various types of construction projects such as electric line installation or substation grading and footings, water system/renewable energy facilities, power plant facilities, and other District owned facilities including telecommunications or natural gas line.
Additionally, assists in conducting surveys to monitor various equipment and other NPPD facilities throughout the state.
Provide support to accurately compile field data, prepare survey notes, process and compute field data to be used in cross-sections, plan and profiles, contour maps (including digital surface models), plats or monitoring data reports as necessary to support customer needs. Be able to convert survey data to various digital file formats as required for customer requests or to be incorporated into other software's.
Provide accurate survey record research including section corner abstract information and limited title research.
Assist with surveying properties with existing and proposed facilities to generate maps, survey plats, and legal descriptions.
Assist in conducting monitoring surveys and compiling reports and maps. Use precision survey equipment for power plant, substation, and water systems/renewable energy facility monitoring surveys.
Provide assistance for alignment and elevation control surveys, including the use of precision survey equipment, for power plant, substation and water systems/renewable energy facilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Continued)
Assist in conducting ground-based 3D scan surveys for facility mapping (including preliminary surveys), identifying manufacturer design defects, electrical line clearance and sag checks, and as-builts. Establish survey control and ensure all data is survey quality.
Assist in conducting Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry and LiDAR surveys for facility mapping (including preliminary surveys), electrical line clearance & sag checks, and as-builts. UAV pilot must have a current FAA (Part 107) Remote Pilot Certificate and ensure all operations are conducted safely and in compliance with applicable rules and laws. Conduct mission planning and obtain airspace authorization. Establish survey control and ensure all data is survey quality.
Provide technical support to other District business units using survey equipment.
Assist in conducting field survey grade checks and validates substation grading is in adherence to contract documents and drawings.
Assist in conducting bathymetric surveys.
Ensure proper maintenance and repair of survey equipment.
In a team effort with other Survey staff, fully participate in scheduling and coordinating survey activities to efficiently meet multiple projects and personnel demands including those of Survey staff, customers, property owners and outside agencies.
**As individuals gain experience and progress, Surveyors II and III will take on increasingly complex projects and responsibilities in the survey department. Detailed Essential Duties and Responsibilities for each level are available upon request.

Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. The Senior Survey Technician is the foundation of the survey team, providing technical expertise with the survey equipment, software, standards, and data reporting. We are looking for a person willing to take on responsibility and stay current with technology. An engaged and driven technician is highly valued at OHM and a critical part of the team.
Your Responsibilities
Understand project scope and convey requirements to the Survey Crew.
Perform survey activities such as leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, profile, and cross-section surveys.
Perform physical tasks such as line clearing, pounding stakes, setting monuments, and locating critical underground objects.
Record field notes legibly and accurately while following company standards and operating guidelines.
Ability to work mostly in the field as well as in the office.
Responsible for processing raw field data.
Checks accuracy of completed work and works with direct supervisor to ensure compliance with QA/QC program.
Oversee survey work to ensure safe work environments by complying with the company and/or site-specific health and safety plans, e.g., proper personal protection equipment, obtaining and maintaining First Aid and CPR certification, etc.
Provide technical expertise on surveying means and methods.
Share project information and other field observations deemed pertinent to project.
Understand state and local regulations regarding surveying standards and practices.
Effectively communicate information to staff and leadership team.
Requirements
Education, Experience & Licensure:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of basic math principles.
Familiar with ODOT survey standards preferred.
Good organizational skills, proven ability to manage equipment, and enjoy working in a team environment.
A current, valid, no restrictions driver's license.
Physical requirements include indoor and outdoor work, various temperatures and weather conditions, driving, lifting, carrying, reaching, bending, kneeling, crawling, walking, sitting, and standing. Survey Field Crew Instrument Operator Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Field Crew Chief and Field Crew Manager, the Survey Field Crew Instrument Operator will be responsible for assisting with preparing job sites for surveys. This work is performed outdoors year-round in various weather conditions. Requires the ability to move in various standing and sitting positions and the ability to lift 30 pounds frequently and up to 70 pounds occasionally (with assistance).
Survey Field Crew Instrument Operator Schedule
Monday through Friday with some weekends required during seasonal months as scheduled by the supervisor.

Requirements
Survey Field Crew Instrument Operator Position Responsibilities:
Check, clean and adjust instruments as needed
Check the general operative condition of assigned work vehicle (gas, oil, tire pressure)
Secure vehicle equipment at the end of each workday
Maintain inventory by identifying and communicating needed supplies required for all work assignments
Sharpen cutting tools
Using a machete, shovel and sledgehammer or other appropriate tools
Transport and setup the instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for survey
Clear underbrush, set stakes and/or pins into ground as directed
Take measurements and readings and assist the Field Crew Chief in accomplishing field assignments in an efficient manner
Become familiar with data collectors, descriptions, coding and techniques and company standardized information
Performs other related duties as required
Survey Field Crew Instrument Operator Skills and Experience:
High school diploma/GED diploma required.
Two years job related experience in the surveying industry desired.
Valid Driver's License and driving record that meets our insurance requirements
Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide and perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance and understand algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
Able to operate instruments required for the collection or distribution of survey data (total station, data collector, GPS).
Proficient in the independent application and use of job-related software/e-technology/cloud-based solutions
Cad drafting experience a plus.

About the Role
The Gas Leak Survey Technician reports to the Assistant Manager or Supervisor at Bermex. This position plays a key role in surveying gas lines, meters, piping, and surrounding areas for evidence of gas leaks using a Methane Leak Detector. This position requires a high degree of physical activity, working in a wide variety of weather conditions, excellent time management, and exceptional attention to detail.
What You'll Do
Gas Leak Surveying:
Surveys gas leaks by walking from site to site
Follows sketches and diagrams to identify gas line locations
Utilizes a Remote Methane Leak Detector (RLMD) or similar device to detect natural gas leaks
Performs visual inspections of gas meters, lines and fittings
Grades gas leaks by level of severity and reports/escalates accordingly
Follows strict Utility, State and Federal guidelines relating to surveying, grading, and reporting gas leaks
Collects data using handheld computer or other collection device
Follows safety, quality, and operational procedures
Completes assigned routes and work orders on the assigned date
Survey in Various Environmental Conditions:
Extensively walk and stand for much of the workday
Walk for long distances in various weather conditions (rain, sleet, hail, snow, extreme heat or cold, etc.)
Exert physical force moving objects (routinely 10lbs of force, up to an occasional 50lbs of force)
Customer & Team Communication:
Refers all consumer complaints to the appropriate authorities
Provides timely reports and documentation to management per procedures
May provide general information about services to customers, when applicable
Use telephones, tablets, and/or computers to communicate
Participates in safety meetings
Shows courtesy and professionalism when dealing with customers and other employees
Other duties as assigned.
