POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Responsible for providing technical support for the relational database environment including overseeing the development and organization of the Sample Manager (LIMS) for the SSC Environmental Laboratory and Met/Team and Met/Cal system for the Measurement Standards and Calibration Laboratory. Work with SSC IT infrastructure, comply with NASA IT Systems requirements.
Responsible for troubleshooting issues/concerns and respond to inquiries from end users and customers for two critical SQL Server COTS applications. Will ensure the availability and consistent performance of Laboratory Services contract applications. The position requires solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities
Works under the Program Manager with general guidance from the Environmental Lead and Sr Metrologist. Assignments are received in objective oriented terms. Independently performs project assignments and is responsible to the Program Manager.
Independently analyze, solve, and correct database development issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
Share technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
Will be responsible for creating a wide range of custom reports utilizing Crystal Reports
Responsible for Upgrading, maintaining, and administering COTS SQL Server Applications.
Work closely with the Stennis Data Center for any database or web application changes
Maintain Elevated Privileges on NASA systems for installation of software
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
BS Degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science or related field preferred
Understanding of and experience with database structures, theories, principles, and practices
1 to 2 years Microsoft SQL Server experience
Knowledge of SQL reporting and query tools and practices, preferably Crystal Reports
Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Technical documentation skills
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
Self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Familiarity with C/C#, VGL, JAVA, and .NET languages and methodologies, to enable customization of LIMS software
