Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops patents and supports the patent portfolio based on knowledge of products, technology, and engineering principles related to one's portfolio.

About the Role:

Review, redline, and help negotiate client contracts, including:

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Intellectual Property, this role will support the Company's intellectual property function to protect the Company's small molecule product candidates. What you'll do:
Global IP portfolio management including preparing and prosecuting patent applications focusing on small molecules
Partner with cross department teams to develop a deep understanding of project technology, identify patentable inventions through regular interactions with project teams, and implement IP protection strategies
Identify and evaluate a range of complex risks (e.g., patentability, infringement, validity) and crafting innovative business-oriented mitigation strategies
Conduct freedom to operate reviews, analyze third-party patent positions, and guide IP strategy
Maintaining strong knowledge of patent case law, rules and regulations before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office as well as other jurisdictional IP offices

Requirements:
Ph.D. in Chemistry, preferably Organic Chemistry, or Master's in Organic Chemistry
Registered before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
7+ years of patent agent experience in pharmaceutical small molecules (patent preparation and prosecution), including preferably 2-3 years in-house experience
Proven track record developing and implementing patent strategies with demonstrated success securing meaningful patent protection for products and related technology

The ideal candidate will support our intellectual property team in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting patent searches, and providing strategic advice for clients. Key Responsibilities:
Responding to USPTO Office Actions
Drafting top-notch U.S. patent applications for major technology companies
Conducting prior art, re-examinations, freedom-to-operate, due diligence, patentability, litigation support, and patent searches
What the Law Firm is Looking For:
A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
Admitted to at least one State (if attorney) and admitted to the USPTO
At least 3+ years of top law firm patent prosecution experience in high-tech matters
Excellent academic credentials
Outstanding writing and verbal skills
Ability to be self driven and independent
Superb communication skills
Competitive Compensation and Benefits Package:
Compensation is based solely on productivity
Anticipated compensation range of $170,000-330,000 per year, depending on work productivity, position and if you have clients
