Pathways for Children company history timeline

1976

Pathways, Inc. was originally incorporated as The Greenhouse Center in 1976.

1978

PathWays PA was founded in 1978 as the Women’s Association for Women’s Alternatives.

1979

In 1979, the Board of Directors disengaged from The Greenhouse Center and formed Pathways, Inc.

1982

First non-agency residential campus to be licensed in Alabama (1982)

1990

New Pathways for Children began in 1990 when concerned Christians in Western Kentucky were moved with compassion and motivated by love to provide better care for neglected, abandoned, and hurting children.

1992

Established in 1992, Pathways Youth and Family Services’ mission of transforming lives, families, and communities has been successful, by providing foster care and adoption services to more than 10,000 children and permanently placing an additional 4,000 more with a forever family.

1994

First Treatment Facility in the state to be selected to contract with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Alabama as a preferred provider (1994)

1998

Behavioral Health: Pathways’ Mosaic Behavioral Health Services (Mosaic) has been providing trauma-informed mental health and community-based services to Texas since 1998.

1999

In 1999, RPCHC’s Executive Director, Carolyn Acker, began to observe the rapid deterioration of the Regent Park community.

2001

In September 2001, Pathways to Education welcomed its first cohort of Grade 9 students.

Founded in 2001, Pathways to Education was born out of the Regent Park Community Health Centre’s (RPCHC) vision that the children and youth of Regent Park would become the future doctors, nurses, social workers, health workers, and administrators within the community.

2005

Brad Brush is the Chief Program Officer for Pathways and has been with Pathways since 2005 and has almost 30 years of experience in the social services field.

Pathways to Education Canada was formed in 2005, with the goal of replicating Regent Park’s success in communities across the country.

2010

Brent Campbell from Round Rock, Texas, has served on the Pathways’ Board of Directors since March 2010.

2015

Tammy Walser joined Pathways Youth and Family Services in January 2015 and currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer.

2016

September 2016 - Pathway expanded to include a new facility in Baldwin County in Southwest Alabama - PATHWAY OF BALDWIN COUNTY

2017

Helen Bryan from San Antonio, Texas, has been serving on the Pathways’ Board of Directors since March 2017.

She and her husband started Big State Construction in the wake of Hurricane Harvey in order to help the city of Houston and its residents rebuild after the devastating storm in 2017.

2020

Before being named CEO in June 2020, Tina served for 13 years as the Executive Director of the Supreme Court of Texas Children’s Commission.

2021

Gabriela Smith from Houston is new to Pathways’ Board of Directors since July 2021.
