Essential Functions
1. Performs detailed clinical screening of patients for technologist review. Informs technologist of any contraindicated responses that could interfere with patient safety.
2. Assists patients with securing valuables and changing into proper attire for the examination.
3. If qualified, initiates IV for contrast studies and provide medical attention for contrast reactions under the guidance of the radiologist, monitors completion and retrieves lab values. Has working knowledge of normal ranges to facilitate efficient notification to technologist/radiologist aiding in proper patient flow.
4. Prepares room and non-sterile trays as needed to assist technologists/radiologist.
5. Ensures safety procedures are followed at all times in all security zones of the Center.

7. Assists with the Priors Management Grid (receiving and validating priors). Obtains, imports, and validates prior outside studies.

9. Contacts referring provider office to obtain updated order and to clarify orders when needed.
10. Collaborates with the Patient Scheduling Coordinator when there is a change in exam/prep for the scheduled patient.

Removes supplies and equipment not in use; placing furnishings and equipment out of the path in order to provide a safe, neat, and organized area.
Adheres to patient rounding expectations and standards.
Assists in maintaining a physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to providing maximal patient comfort and optimizing healing.
Promptly and appropriately responds to patient and family calls and requests.
Appropriately designates applicable charges to individual patients using hospital's established system.
May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses environmental risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.
Minimum Job Requirements
Minimum Education & Experience :
High school diploma or GED equivalent strongly preferred.
2 years of experience in inpatient hospital setting preferred.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation:
Current BLS required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of current clinical operations and procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate Infection Prevention and proper body mechanics.
Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks.
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection prevention standards.
Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization.
Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift:
A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time.
Both gross and precise motor functions.
Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.
Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care.
Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment.
Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
