About the role: The hospice aide is a paraprofessional member of the interdisciplinary group who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient's personal needs and to promote comfort. The hospice aide is responsible for observing the patient, reporting these observations, and documenting observations and care performed. The hospice aide will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity, and safety of a patient's care. Job Responsibilities: 1. Performing personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the Case Manager immediately. 2. SUMMARY: Assists patients with activities of daily living and performs technical skills under the direction of the registered nurse. Required Education/Training: Unlicensed Assistive Personnel training with documented certificate of completion; or: * has successfully completed a fundamentals/Foundations of nursing course in a professional/practical nursing program with a passing grade (but not currently pursuing a nursing degree); or * possesses current certification as a nursing assistant per Missouri state regulations (Missouri C.N.A.); or * has documented education as an emergency medical technician, medical assistant or surgical technician; or * has two (2) years documented experience as a nurse assistant in the past three (3) years (e.g. has worked as and can provide an out-of-state nursing assistant certification or PCT training course); or * has completed a professional or licensed practical nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country.
