Living Skills Development: In accordance with the ISP, provides support by teaching skills that foster independence and community integration. Such skills may include: cooking, money management, household shopping, laundry, personal hygiene, etc.; supports the client in maintaining their home and accessing activities in the community; supports their spiritual enrichment choices; records progress of their skill development and achievements.
Behavioral Development: Serves as a role model and mentor, demonstrating desired behaviors and coaching by using approved techniques and strategies; in accordance with the ISP may use approved physical intervention techniques when necessary to ensure everyone's safety. Must be able to work as part of a team to achieve positive outcomes for the client and programs.
Operational Support: Maintains cleanliness of the program area and/or home by performing housekeeping duties such as cleaning, washing clothes and dishes, maintaining cleanliness of the program vehicle, basic maintenance of the outside house appearance; completes tasks beyond the clients' abilities, follows all policies & procedures for handling money.

•Take fluid samples or other specimens for testing and prepare for shipping.

•Monitor and document status of patient and instruct patient in vascular accesses etc., under the direction of RN.
•Review lab work, physician orders and reinforce treatment care with patient.
•Enter appropriate ICD-9 codes for lab draws into the computer.

•Prepare the dialysis equipment before treatment and care for the equipment after treatment.

Ability to talk with people and show understanding of other's views.
Ability to learn and to apply principles, methods, techniques, and attitudes required in geriatric nursing assistant care.
Ability to work in a partnership environment which fosters effective teamwork in meeting the mission of Oakwood.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to organize, prioritize and be accurate in a variety of duties.
Ability to observe changes in mental, physical, and spiritual conditions of residents and report any changes to a nurse.
Job Experience/Training required of a Certified Nursing Assistant (Not intended to be an all-inclusive list)
Must be a certified nursing assistant through an accredited program and certification current on State Registry.
Grade school education required; high school education preferred.
