About the role: The PRN hospice aide is a paraprofessional member of the interdisciplinary group who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient's personal needs and to promote comfort. The hospice aide is responsible for observing the patient, reporting these observations, and documenting observations and care performed. The PRN hospice aide will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity, and safety of a patient's care. Job Responsibilities: 1. Performing personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the Case Manager immediately. 2. Providing patient and family with positive communication techniques, within the realm of ethical and respectful care, including confidentiality. 3. Meeting the safety needs of the patient and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2, etc.) 4. The successful candidate will become a member of the Small Animal Surgery Section that consists of Soft Tissue Surgery, Orthopedic, and Neurology/Neurosurgery subsections as well as the Physical Rehabilitation service. The small animal surgeons have access to state-of-the-art diagnostic (digital radiography, 64-slice CT scanner, 1.5T MRI, C-arm, ultrasound, scintigraphy) and recently updated surgical equipment (including a range of minimally invasive equipment, a dedicated Storz tower, and 3 ForceTriads). The Surgery service works closely with other specialty services, including Emergency and Critical Care, Anesthesia, Diagnostic Imaging, Cardiology, Behavior, Dermatology, Community Practice, Medical Oncology, Internal Medicine, and Urology. Purdue Veterinary Hospital (dedicated in spring of 2022) has 11 state-of-the-art ORs (3 dedicated to Soft Tissue), ICU, intermediate care and general wards, dedicated treatment areas (including soft tissue surgery) and full range of aforementioned diagnostic imaging facilities. Qualifications Qualifications for the position include a DVM or equivalent degree, and board certification or completion of a residency program registered by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) or European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS). Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience, with additional remuneration for after-hours emergency procedures. In addition to a professional career startup, funding for continued commitment to Purdue ('pay & stay') has been set aside. A background check is required for employment by the University. Responsibilities The candidate will actively participate in the learning, discovery and engagement activities of the PVM and the VCS department. Learning: Participate in lectures and laboratories in the DVM and veterinary nursing curricula, clinical teaching in the Purdue Veterinary Hospital (PVH) and participate in training house officers. The hospice aide is responsible for observing the patient, reporting these observations, and documenting observations and care performed. The PRN hospice aide will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity, and safety of a patient's care. Job Responsibilities: 1. Performing personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the Case Manager immediately. 2. Meeting the safety needs of the patient and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2, etc.) 4. Performing range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency. 16. Providing respite for patient's/family/caregiver when on-site, as appropriate. 17. Keeping the patient's living area clean and orderly, as assigned. 18. Adhering to the organization's documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct. 19.
