Job Summary and Responsibilities 1. Performs order entry functions by transcribing physician orders onto the Medication Administration Record, entering them in the computer, and/or scheduling diagnostic tests, therapies, physician appointments etc., with the appropriate departments or offices. Notifies nursing personnel of orders requiring immediate attention and assures that orders have been signed by the Registered Nurse. 6. Utilizes the phone system, paging system, call light system, computer system, pneumatic tube system, photocopier, and fax machine to provide clerical support. Monitors performance of the listed systems and other unit resources and reports related needs for repairs or supplies to the Unit Director. 8. Organizes medical charts for patients by assembling new charts on admission, adding appropriate pages to charts as necessary, disassembling charts and routing appropriately on transfer, death or discharge, and assures chart is accurate and complete. Prints forms for nursing or medical staff as directed. 9. Cleans and maintains specialized equipment (e.g., tele boxes, monitor cables and modules) as directed by the Unit Manager or designee. Restocks CICU rooms and/or designated areas.
