The Registered Nurse First Assistant independently uses the nursing process to safely, therapeutically and efficiently care for patient requiring surgical intervention. Uses information from a variety of sources to assess, plan, implement, identify outcomes and evaluate patient's plan of care. The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) collaborates with the surgeon and the healthcare team to perform a safe operative procedure with an optimal outcome for the patient. This individual renders direct patientcare as defined by the RNFA Standardized Procedure and maintains practice privileges through the Medical Staffing office. When not providing assisting services, the RNFA will perform circulating and/or scrub duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Answers patient call lights, telephone, and paging system and responds as appropriate

Able to release, remove, and reapply restraints to patient under the direction of an RN

SUMMARY
This is a Dual Role:
Under the supervision of the Clinic Manager, the Medical Assistant is responsible for providing basic nursing care to patients under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager. The MA will perform various clerical duties relating to the provision of care. This position will also support promoting a professional health care facility image by the efficient performance of a variety of business and clerical tasks designed to facilitate the smooth flow of patients, clients, and work throughout the organization. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Primary Duties
Cheerfully greet and register incoming clients, patients and visitors in a prompt and pleasant manner.
Present, review, update, process patient registration forms according to guidelines.
Complete funding program assessment and assign patients to the correct program. Refers patients to Enrollment Coordinator as appropriate.
Verify patient payer insurance eligibility, and any co-pays or share of cost.
Collect patient co-pays or share of cost according to policy. Act as patient relations representative by answering patient inquiries either in person or over the phone within the limits of his/her knowledge and clinics medical practice policies.
Answering incoming calls and routes them to the appropriate departments, generates Telephone Encounters (TE) to clinician's or other staff as needed and per patients request.
Creates New patient records in EMR (eClinical Works) according to guidelines.
Review all medical record charts for the following day and ensure all documents are properly filed and present in the patients record.
Add and Remove Alerts in patients record as needed
Sends letters to patients as directed by clinician.
Facilitate completion of program applications/forms (CHDP, Family Pact, EWC/CDP, Medical, HMO, MHLA, Self Pay).
Maintain a supply of complete packets for every funding program.
Schedule patient appointment, cancel, reschedule.
Maintain established office policies and procedures.
Maintain an organized and clean work environment at all times
Consistent on time arrival and ready to begin work at the start of the day. Does not abuse or take advantage of sick time.
Opens, Closes clinic as directed by supervisor.
Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Consultations with prescribing providers on behalf of Addiction Medicine Team (AMT).
Provide alcohol and drug counseling and support, maintain appropriate/ethical boundaries with all participants, monitor participant conduct, record participant activity, and inform treatment team of potential concerns.
Performs crisis intervention and communicates with treatment team as unforeseen situations arise.
Documentation:
Write and complete all progress notes within 72 hours of service delivery.
