Position Summary: Perform first level of on-site technical, data recording and assessment within the manufacturing environment of Quaker Houghton customers. Follows standard procedures and has readily available supervision or management where necessary to provide a high standard of Fluidcare support. Job Accountabilities: * Participate in addition of chemicals, including coolants, greases, oils, lubricants, cleaners and biocides as directed by site staff. Perform bio-stick dip tests of all machine sumps and central systems. * Assist in the maintenance of coolant filters, washers, paint systems, pumps, air handling systems, etc. for sump changes and cleaning, as required to keep fluids within proper limits. * Measure and record coolant parameters and maintain lubrication schedules to ensure parameters are met to maintain the highest coolant conditions. This may involve the dropping and cleaning of tanks when required. * Liaise directly with the customer so that changes in coolant parameters are highlighted and can then be acted upon and enter results in appropriate databases. Prepare detailed shift reports. * Assist in routine maintenance on customers equipment and fluid systems including product additions, filter changes, emptying gondolas, sump cleaning, etc. as directed. * Assist in disposal of contaminated articles (i.e. pails, gloves, samples, etc.) in accordance with prescribed measures, including waste management and recycling initiatives * Assist in maintaining and calibrating all laboratory equipment, such as scales, pH meters, glassware, incubators, etc. in accordance with site control plan. * Assist in properly maintaining tools and utility equipment such as pumps, sump suckers, coolant dispensers, etc. in a safe and efficient manner. * Where appropriate: Cut-up, mount and prepare parts for metallurgical testing. Surface etching of parts for analysis. Measurement and metallurgical determinations consisting of hardness and microstructure analysis * Supports site staff general organization initiatives (inventory, storage rooms, labeling, etc.) * May work in manufacturing environment with union associates. * Interact with customers production and technical personnel and other suppliers. * May be required to operate hand tools, shop tools and equipment. The work environment is characteristic of a dialysis facility with air temperature control and moderate noise. Ability to lift at least 30 pounds. Responsibilities* Provide direct patient care under direct supervision of a RN or other designated official performing delegated procedures of a specialized and technical nature. Observation/Monitoring * Obtains vital signs, temperature, height/length, weight, oxygen saturation and pain scores; reports abnormal values to RN. Wound Care * Cleanses and redresses non-sterile wounds. * Performs simple sterile dressing changes, as in central line dressings. * Assists RN with complex dressing changes. * Cares for permanent drainage sites and apply appropriate collection device, i.e., ostomy, G-tube,etc. * Applies binders, ACE wraps, hot and cold applications; provides soaks and special baths. Respiratory Care * Assist with tracheostomy/endotracheal care on stable tracheotomies including such duties as cleaning and redressing area; assists with tape and tie changes. * Performs endotracheal/tracheostomy tube suctioning after assessment by RN of patient stability.. * Assists with P&PD by holding the patient. * Coaches/prompts patient to use incentive spirometer, and in coughing and deep breathing. * Performs routine nasal and/or oral suctioning. Other Interventions * Performs post-mortem care and transports deceased patients to the morgue/pathology. * Responds to call lights and alarms; answer unit telephone and relay messages. * Assists RN with admissions, discharges, and transfers. * Initiates emergency care utilizing the ABC's: Airway, Breathing, Circulation. * Transports materials, supplies, medications, specimens, patient belongings, equipment and medical records. * Performs patient care comfort-safety rounds per unit routine. * Assists with application and maintains restraints. * Documents care provided. Environment * Stocks supplies and equipment in patient care spaces. * Sets up patient rooms for admission or procedure. * Makes up beds with linen, changes bed linens and linen hamper during patient stay. * Maintains orderliness of the patient room and unit, including equipment/cords, linen, trash, patient belongings, etc. * Cleans and maintains inventory and outdates of equipment and supplies in patient care spaces. * Clean assigned equipment and areas of work. * Checks emergency equipment. Required Qualifications* High school diploma, GED or equivalent, ability to read and write, and one of the following: * 6 months experience in skilled long-term facility/acute care hospital OR Enrolled in a nursing program and have completed fundamentals of nursing course OR 1 year experience short-term care facility (i.e. rehab) OR Completion of a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program * Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities which include moving, transporting and positioning patients and equipment as well as constantly positioning self to provide patient care and related duties. Desired Qualifications* Completion of a Certified Nurse Aide or Certified Medical Assistant program; basic computer skills; course work in an Allied Health field.
