AMI will be assisting the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA (and it's associated local clinics) by providing medical services as requested.
Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant will support patientcare services under a Department of Defense personal services contract. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the Medical Assistant will contribute to the clinic's daily operations and continuity of care for active-duty service members and their families. This position requires flexibility with scheduling, strong communication skills, and adherence to clinical protocols and documentation standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Collaborate with team members, departments, and directorates to support the HOME PORT model and maintain a safe, orderly environment
Actively participate in team huddles and promote effective communication with staff, patients, families, and other departments
Prepare for patient visits by reviewing provider schedules, screening patients per clinic protocol, and completing necessary forms, including during EHR outages
Utilize automated systems and IT tools (e.g., MHS Genesis, CarePoint, Secure Messaging) to enhance patient experience and update health data
Perform data entry for population health metrics and health promotion
Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and preparing patient correspondence
Support orientation of new personnel as assigned
The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.
Excellent communication and time management skills.
Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Active BLS certification
Be a graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), OR the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists, OR a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces, OR other formal program approved by the MTF.
Possess a minimum of one (1) year of experience within the last three (3) years.
Ability to work independently under government supervision.
Must meet health and qualification standards as outlined in the contract.
Must provide two letters of recommendation from professional references attesting to clinical competency and reliability, with at least one being from a supervisor.
Additional Requirements:
Must be eligible to work in a federal facility and pass background checks as required.
Must comply with timekeeping procedures using MTF systems (e.g., KRONOS).
Must be able to work in a safe manner following all safety rules and regulations. Must work as a team member to improve safety culture and quality.

Basic computer skills

To properly maintain the landscape of the University to present a neat, clean and well maintained appearance. Participates in the IPM & PHC maintenance program to enhance aesthetics of campus grounds, infrastructure, gardens, and landscape. This will include the performance of grounds maintenance, operate grounds maintenance equipment such as truck with or without manual transmission, riding and push mowers, pesticide application equipment, tractors, and small powered equipment. This will also include horticulture practices such as mowing, weed control, turfgrass maintenance, planting, litter removal and other aspects associated with the upkeep of the landscape of the campus. Position is designated as "essential personnel" for emergency closing.

Education or training
Considerable experience in a horticulture related field of service with an emphasis on direct pesticide application and/or oversight.
Level and type of experience
Considerable experience in the care and maintenance of landscaped areas or general grounds, minimum of one year in fertilization and specialized pest and/or pesticide spray control work is mandatory.

Considerable on-the-job and/or vocational training in Grounds Maintenance and/or combination of experience with higher level degree or certification in a horticulture related setting. Responsibilities
Assistpatients with daily activities such as moving in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, or automobiles
Care for patients by changing bed linens, doing laundry, cleaning the home, or assisting with personal care
Maintain records of patientcare, condition, progress, or problems to report and discuss observations with the supervisor
Build relationships with patients by conversing or reading aloud to help keep them mentally healthy and alert
Give medications and immunizations
Engage patients in exercises or other activities
Qualifications
Graduated from an accredited Home Health Aide (HHA) program
High School Diploma or GED
One year prior professional experience
Drivers license required
CPR certification if applicable
