About the role: Working in a high-volume medical office, the Patient Care Technician provides friendly customer service while administering interventional mental health treatments that can include Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Esketamine and IV Ketamine therapies. Position Responsibilities include: • Provides companion care which can include reading, visiting, answering personal correspondence, assisting with bill paying or other tasks as listed on resident's plan of care. • Provides or assists in bathing or showering for thorough cleanliness and hygiene of resident. • Makes beds, straightens rooms, and keeps resident care area in an organized manner. • Assists residents in dressing when needed and demonstrates concern for individual privacy while providing resident care. • Can be responsible for preparing light meals at the direction of the resident when noted on resident's plan of care. • Assists residents to schedule medical appointments or other vital services as indicated by the resident's plan of care. May accompany resident to appointments at the direction of the Resident Care Coordinator, Memory Care Coordinator, Wellness Nurse, or Executive Director. • Promotes appropriate levels of independence in resident care and demonstrates awareness of safety for both resident and self in providing care. • Assists resident with simple range of motion or other exercises as directed by nurse or therapist and ambulates resident according to his/her endurance levels. When directed by the plan of care, assists resident to site fitness program or individual planned events. • Applies medical or adaptive devices as ordered by the appropriate physician, physician extender, or supervising nurse. • Collects specimens as directed by the Resident Care Coordinator, Memory Care Coordinator, or Wellness Nurse,. • May deliver meal trays from Dining Room or assist resident to the Dining Room. • Assists residents with personal laundry including any dry cleaning. • Follows prescribed Eskaton emergency protocol and policies. • Completes weights for each resident as noted on plan of care. • Provides respite services for spouses, and/or other family members. • Assists with activities, including participating and/or leading activities per Activity Director and Resident Care Coordinator, Memory Care Coordinator, or Wellness Nurse Instructions. Qualifications Education: High school graduate or G.E.D. preferred. Proficient ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language. Training and Experience: Six (6) months experience in providing personal care in a residential or long term care setting preferred. Valid/current first aid certification. Job Knowledge: Knowledge in performing personal care services in a residential environment. Ability to meet new and/or stressful situations with the appropriate responses. Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team, to share information freely, to use and seek supervision and consultation verbally and in writing, and be able to follow both verbal and written instructions. Colusa Medical Center, LLC provides both inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency services, to the surrounding community bringing exceptional healthcare and service to our community. The Medical Assistant (MA) is a member of the nursing team who functions under the direction, guidance, and supervision of a licensed physician or Mid-level (FNP/PA) Practitioner who has been designated by the physician. An MA, with guidance, assists in providing and evaluating nursing care for patients and in coordinating nursing care activities with other health care disciplines. QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Current Medical Assistant certification/license preferred. Current certification in CPR. Prior experience in medical office setting preferred. Pediatric experience preferred. Must be bilingual (English/Spanish). Must be able to perform duties with minimum supervision. POSITION SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE MEASURES: Back Office MA Responsibilities: Takes vital signs accurately, including data collection, height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Under the direction of the provider, performs procedures, treatments, and/or tests as assigned. Reports results to the provider. Instructs patient in the proper stool, urine, and sputum specimen collection. Performs dressing changes as directed. Sets up and assists with sterile surgical procedures. Is attentive to changes in patient condition or behavior and communicates patient needs to provider. Keeps provider informed of changes in patient's condition/status. Assists with delivery of patient care, as needed. Prepares specimens. Charts all actions taken accurately and timely. Cleans and sets up examination rooms. Clean and sterilizes equipment. Initiates procedures for emergency care that require immediate action, following pertinent policies/procedures. Remains calm in stressful situations. Accurately and promptly carries out provider's orders. Performs urine drug screen collections accurately, and is attentive to the donor's demeanor. Accurately documents CHDP data, referrals, immunization records, chief complaints, and vital signs. Prepares equipment and assists with gynecological exams. Performs ear lavage procedure. Performs Accucheck with calibration. Performs Hemocue and checks control. Accurately performs urine dip and controls. Performs HCG and control. Performs stool occult and control. Performs vision screening, audiometries, spirometry tests, and EKGs. Employee may transport medication, including expired medications, to and from the hospital pharmacy to the clinics. Front Office MA Responsibilities: Files, copies, and obtains prior records, and prepares forms. Answers the telephone professionally (with courtesy, accuracy and respect for confidentiality), identifying self and department. Returns telephone voice mail and messages appropriately.
