Overview
The Patient Care Specialist, under the supervision of Manager, Operations & Compliance, assists in the various activities of the pharmacy operations not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist. The Patient Care Specialist is primarily responsible for incoming and outgoing calls from customers regarding drug delivery, set-up and all related services.

Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required.One (1) year of experience working in a high volume pharmacy, or equivalent setting, required, or six (6) months as a temporary associate in the Patient Care Specialist role or Reliance Operations & Compliance department. National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.Experience working with on line claims processing system preferred.Effective oral and written communication skills and an aptitude for working with other health care professionals.Ability to lift a minimum of 5lbs.Proven examples of displaying the Reliance values: Collaborative, Accessible, Results-Oriented, Empowering, and Supportive.

Essential Accountabilities
A patient care specialist through incoming and outgoing calls answers patient inquiries about billing, procedures, policies and available services.Act as a liaison between patients and insurance companies, and facilitate communication between patients and doctors, medical staff and administrative staff.Maintain patient records; filing, documentation duties Set up, data entry.Packaging and shipping.Financial arrangements, collecting co-payments.Coordination of benefits.Financial assistance coordination.Prior Authorization assistance with offices.Billing.Work as a team member within the patient services department and all other departments to promote information sharing and continuous process improvement.Specialists must function in strict accordance with standard, written procedures and guidelines with deviation approved by the supervising pharmacist.

Responsible for organizing, coordinating, directing, evaluating, and personally providing quality patient care in a practice, to include care provided in practice setting, and through the continuum of surgical procedures. Provides direct administrative and clinical support to medical providers to provide optimal care, including preparing for patient visits, assisting providers during visit, assisting providers with in-office procedures and performing follow-up tasks to schedule patients for additional care or procedures and respond to patient needs. Provides back-up for other MA's or surgery scheduler. Cross-trained for front office Education: • High School Diploma, or GED - Required. • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration - Preferred.

Responsible for organizing, coordinating, directing, evaluating, and personally providing quality patient care in a practice, to include care provided in practice setting, and through the continuum of surgical procedures. Is responsible for training all new incoming CMAs and insuring that all competencies are completed and checked off by the RN Supervisor. Provides back-up for other MA's or surgery scheduler. Education:

* High School Diploma, or GED - Required.
* Bachelor's Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration - Preferred.
* Two (2) years of medical practice experience in coordinating the continuum of surgical or clinical patient care involving various resources, departments, and providers, and coding knowledge to ensure accurate and timely billing of services.
* Prior experience in physician office setting - Preferred.
* Experience assisting with in-office procedures and injections - Preferred
* Ability to demonstrate effective organizational and time-management skills
* Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills
* Demonstrates knowledge of basic computer skills
* Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding.
* Demonstrates knowledge of basic procedures for taking vitals, and obtaining medical information.
* Ability to problem-solve and multi-task in the work environment
