JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Minimum two (2) years of education (or experience) focused on nursing, psychology, social service, medicine or related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum two (2) years of training or experience in substance abuse and/or behavioral health services preferred.
Certification:
Healthcare Provider CPR and First Aid, Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card, TB, Handle with Care within the first three (3) months of hire and annually thereafter.
Knowledge/Skills:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
Must be able to demonstrate special training, knowledge, and skills, as well as job and/or program specific competency within the first three (3) months of training, and annually thereafter.
Must be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/ First Aid upon hire and recertified every 2 years thereafter.
Must complete all required mandatory in-services annually.
Must be tested for Tuberculosis with a PPD skin test or chest x-ray upon hire; PPD skin test required annually, or chest x-ray as indicated.
Must be certified in HWC within the first three (3) months of hire and annually thereafter.

Searches the client's personal items upon arrival confiscating, inventorying and securing; cellular phones, personal computers, money credit cards, any alcoholic content, medications, drug paraphernalia, or any other contraband items.
Monitors all incoming mail, packages and parcels and personally observes the contents of these items for the presence of contraband.
Maintains complete confidentiality on behalf of the clients and refrains from giving any information about any client to any outside source via, phone, text fax or personal meeting.
Monitors the behaviors of clients and reports all occurrences which differ from the standard, including personal relationships of an aggressive or physical nature.
Continually tracks all clients' location while on property and in the community and immediately report any missing clients to the Program Coordinator.
Assures that clients maintain their living areas in accordance with accepted standards.
Assists the staff in assuring the clients are available and present for all scheduled groups and activities including medical appointments, etc.
Assures that clients remain in group meetings and reports any variance to this policy.

Makes notation of any unauthorized use of telephones, computers, faxes, etc., and report the information the same day to the Program Coordinator.
Properly administers UA and Breathalyzers and assures all reports of results are properly disseminated to Program Coordinator.
When required, performs bed checks as per standard schedule, including noting and overseeing sleep patterns and reporting unusual occurrences regarding individuals' behaviors.
Refrains from introducing personal matters into the business surroundings.
Maintains proper boundaries during the client's time in the program as well as following their exit from this program.
Logs into the log book any activities and behaviors to assist incoming shifts with continuity of the daily program.
Attends staff meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Working knowledge of residential programs for Substance Use Disorder and mental health.
Knowledge of the agency's policy, procedures, contracts/memorandum of agreements (MOA) and program activities.

Monitor and record:
Blood flow rates
Machine pressures
Heparin dosages
Blood pressure readings during treatment
Make frequent rounds to patients, anticipating needs, responding to calls, and managing audible or visual equipment alarms.
Ensure all dialysis machine safety parameters are correctly set and maintained.
Assist in positioning, lifting, and turning of patients using proper body mechanics.
Take and record vital signs before, during, and after the dialysis procedure.
Monitor patient status throughout treatment and immediately report any abnormal signs or symptoms to the nurse.
Obtain and properly label blood specimens; complete laboratory requisitions.
Spin blood specimens in a centrifuge, as required.
Complete all required documentation accurately and report any unusual events to the supervisor.

Report malfunctioning or unsafe equipment immediately to the supervisor.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and staff while preserving patient confidentiality.
Actively participate in staff meetings, in-services, and unit-based activities.

Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) is looking to add a clinic technician to their surgery and triage team. This position provides advanced medical care and management of animals at PACC, overseeing daily care routines, and administering medications as directed by veterinarians. Our technicians assist with medical treatments, ensuring compliance with animal welfare standards in a high-volume care setting.
This position requires working mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and some holidays. Shift rotation is required.
Essential Functions:
As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. Checks incoming animals for obvious health problems and injuries;
Ensures humane treatment of all animals at PACC;
Ensures the accuracy and completeness of documentation concerning incoming animals;
Assists in administering medication to sick animals as prescribed and directed by a veterinarian;
Cleans and sanitizes cages, kennels, floors, walls, windows, equipment, and treatment areas to maintain the sanitary conditions of the PACC;
Assists in performing euthanasia of animals, including following safety protocols for use and maintenance of DEA Schedule II drugs;
Reviews and organize documents, creates new records and inputs and retrieves information using automated systems;
Prepares and updates files, logs, status records, and other documentation to reflect the current status of a process and performs required purges;
Assists in maintaining accountability of scheduled drugs;
Administers necessary treatment in accordance with directions received from veterinarian;
Administers medications to sick animals as prescribed and directed by a veterinarian;
Performs animal triage and treatment;
Performs daily health checks on impounded animals;
Documents pertinent animal health data;
Prepares and processes euthanized, potentially rabid animals for laboratory analysis;
Collects and disposes of dead animals according to shelter procedure and health codes.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or General Education Development (G.E.D.) certificate AND six months of experience in a veterinary clinic or position involving handling animals OR completion of a vet technician/vet assistant certification.
(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
OR:
One year of experience working with Pima County as an Animal CareTechnician I, Animal Care Response Technician or closely related position as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Minimum one (1) year experience working in an animal clinic as a technician or assistant.
Certificate or completion of a Veterinary Assistant or Technician degree from an accredited college.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Licenses and Certificates: All positions may require a valid Arizona Class D driver license at the time of application or appointment. Failure to obtain / maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination.
Special Notice: Within nine months of appointment, employees must receive the full series of pre-exposure rabies immunizations. Medical inability to be immunized or previous immunization must be verified by the County Physician prior to employment. Recommended boosters are required for the duration of employment, unless medically excused or physiologically unable to develop immunity. The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County.
