Basic Required Qualifications:

Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP); must obtain within 60-days of hire or transfer into this role; (this requirement is waived if incumbent holds a valid CA-RVT license)

Role description
Under the direction of a licensed physician, registered nurse, or clinical supervisor, the Psychiatric Technician performs professional therapeutic procedures in the care and treatment of severely and persistently mentally ill and emotionally disturbed patients.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
* Gives a basic level of general and psychiatric nursing care to mentally ill patients; works with an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide an overall treatment program for the patient;
* Under supervision, may perform nursing procedures such as administering medications and treatments, including oral medications, injections, and enemas, taking and charting vital signs;
* Observes patients' condition and behavior; reports significant changes to supervisor or physician and documents care and/or treatments in nursing progress notes on patients; prepares patients and cares for them during treatment; gives first aid as needed;
* Helps to create a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and recognizes early symptoms/signs of escalation and at risk behavior; uses appropriate interventions including crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, and alerting other team members;
* Implements therapeutic activities and documents patient participation; assists rehabilitation therapists in occupational and recreational therapies for patients;
* Motivates patients to develop independence in performing activities of daily living; assists patients with feeding, clothing, toileting, activities of daily living; ensure patients follow safe practices that protect patients and others from personal injury;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
LICENSE: Possession of a valid Psychiatric Technicians license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.

Compensation:
First-year fully licensed hourly-wage techs can earn upwards of $74,681.60 annually, including bonuses.
Your base hourly rate starts at $27.02 and increases to $33.02 once fully licensed and mobile ready.
All hourly team members are eligible for overtime on an as-needed basis.
Full-time team members receive $500 per month in team bonuses if we hit our monthly team revenue and individual performance goals. Part-time team members working 16 hours a week or more will receive $250 per month. All goals are designed to be challenging but doable, and we hit all our monthly goals in 2024 except three.
Team members are also eligible for annual bonuses which are a combination of cash and stock options.
As a full-time employee, you are guaranteed weekly pay equivalent to 30 hours of work, but can earn more by working more.
All team members regardless of status or position are eligible for stock option grants and profit sharing, which are awarded based on performance.
We expect both hourly and bonus compensation to grow as the company grows.

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will go through the following examination process:

* Oral Exam: The oral exam is a structured interview process that will assess the candidate's education, training, and experience and may include a practical exercise. Job Summary:
Provides direct and indirect care, under the direction of the registered nurse (RN), for a patient or an assigned group of patients. Meets patient care needs through the use of the nursing process. Cares for patients of different age groups by using age related interventions as assigned by the RN.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
* High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
* Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
* Two years' experience in a behavioral healthcare setting: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
* Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred
* Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification: Preferred
* Management of Assaultive Behavior certification: Preferred
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
* Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM): Required
* Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
Essential Functions:
* Implements psychosocial interventions, helps with basic activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, ambulating, transferring, elimination needs and therapeutic program participation. Assists in maintaining program function including meal supervision and patient safety checks. Assists in structured therapeutic activities and supportive interactions with patients. Utilizes seclusion and restraint interventions, as needed.
* Conducts therapeutic interventions with patients exhibiting significant disturbances in emotional, cognitive and physical behaviors. Facilitates or co-facilitates therapeutic group process. Facilitates a variety of therapeutic groups including verbal process, patient education and those encouraging nonverbal means of expression and communication. Interprets patient's behavior or physical symptoms so that abnormal behaviors are recognized and reported to the RN so that interventions may be implemented.
* Performs data collection and physical examinations for patients and participates with the RN in the planning of care and implementation of interventions. Participates with other team members in developing plans for meeting the daily care needs of patients, as determined by the care plan. Conducts required patient monitoring according to policy. Documents individual patient care information.
* Supports patient and family through empathetic interaction/education within scope of practice. Identifies and reinforces patient/family teaching plans. Fosters patient participation in the program environment and offers support to patients in coping with an immediate situation.
* Assists nursing staff in clerical duties. Prepares new charts on admission, fills out routine forms and answers telephones.
* Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

The Monitor Tech is to be responsible for continuous telemetry monitoring.
Responsibilities
SPECIFIC DUTIES (other duties may be assigned) 1 Manage the telemetry central workstation and related equipment. 2 Responsible for coordinating maintenance of telemetry equipment.
• Notifies biomedical engineering in the event of telemetry equipment failure, as needed.
• Assists in placing leads and changing batteries promptly.
3 Responsible for initial dysrhythmia recognition with appropriate documentation.
• Deletes false alarms (alarm review) every shift, and as appropriate.
• Notifies appropriate nurse of rhythm changes/dysrhythmia immediately. (Also notifies charge nurse).
• Runs and mounts rhythm strips once each shift and as needed.
• Labels monitors with patient name and room numbers, as needed.
4 Coordinate census, admission, and discharge data.
5 Coordinate patient admission and discharge information on the unit.
• Assists in maintaining census, admission, and discharge board, telemetry shift report, and census log.
• Helps assure empty rooms are ready for new patients.
• Maintains assignment book for current shift.
• Maintains census number (projected patients for the start of the next shift) and notifies staffing office of changes, as needed.
• Verifies unused telemetry transmitter availability, every shift.
• Prepares for room assignments.
• Assigns monitors and admits patients to monitor.
• Receives and documents initial patient assignment to unit from Admitting Department, or nursing supervisor, as needed.
6 Ensure a professional, helpful working environment by upholding the hospital standards.
• Assures a qualified person (Telemetry RN) is accountable for monitors if it is necessary to leave the nurses station at any time.
• Maintains a neat, orderly work environment.
7 Assist RN's, Supervisor, and unit clerk, as requested, and as time allows.
• Assists in answering phones promptly.
• Provides assistance to patients/families and physicians regarding patient location, patient rhythms, and general information in a prompt and courteous manner.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
• Previous monitor technician experience required.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
• EKG certification.
• BLS certification.
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:
• Able to pass EKG Rhythm recognition exam.
• Excellent communication skills.
