Primary Purpose Conducts specialized examinations in Cardiovascular Radiology ensuring that procedures are performed according to Parkland, stat, and regulatory standards. Minimum Specifications Education • Must be a graduate of an accredited Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (AAHEP) Radiology Program or an accredited Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist program (RCIS). Experience • Must have a minimum of one year experience in Special Procedures and /or Cath/EP Lab. Equivalent Education and/or Experience • May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for the experience requirements. Certification/Registration/Licensure • Must have an American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) certification; OR, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) within 3 months of hire. • Must obtain a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) OR Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT) by Texas Department of Health or Texas Medical Board within 9 months of start date. • Certification in Advanced Cardiopulmonary Lifesaving certificate (ACLS) must be attained within 90 days of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. • Must have a current Healthcare Provider (BLS Level) CPR course completion card or successfully complete a course upon initial orientation from one of the following: American Heart Association, American Red Cross Rescuer, Military Training Network. Skills or Special Abilities • Must possess a thorough working knowledge of radiologic special procedures and knowledge of computer software applications. • Must be able to demonstrate oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and time management skills. Responsibilities 1. Conducts specialized examinations in cardiac catheterization, peripheral vascular studies and/or electrophysiology studies. 2. Serves as a lead worker and resource to medical and clinical staff as needed. 3. Assists with identification, preparation and draping of patients, and room preparation for routine procedures. Reads physicians' orders/protocols and if necessary, communicates with physicians on protocols for routine procedures, and selects equipment in accord with the protocols and regulatory, statutory and Parkland standards to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction. 4. Collaborates with intra-procedure team to provide safe patient care. Participates consistently in Universal Protocol and site marking identification (when applicable). 5. Maintains and calibrates equipment, instituting and recording all preventive maintenance procedures, troubleshooting and reporting or seeking repair to maintain equipment operability. Conducts maintenance on special procedures equipment and calibrates such equipment prior to each procedure, instructing technologists in the operation of special procedures equipment as needed to ensure quality care for patients. 6. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland. 7. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of cardiovascular technology by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices. 8. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact cardiovascular technology and the cardiac labs area. Revises procedures for repeated use of special procedures equipment and develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Pay Range $20.24 - $24.65 Summary/Objective: The Patient Care Technician III (PCT III) is a role dedicated to ensuring the patient has an exceptional patient care experience while in our center by meeting all patient needs. The PCT III will assist the technologist through smooth patient transitions and continuously engaging with the patient on exam expectations and wait times. The PCT III may prepare the patient for the exam contrast and/or initiate IV as needed and provide medical attention for contrast reactions under the guidance of the radiologist. The PCT III will assist the patient with any incomplete clinical pre-screening forms or consents and conduct the clinical history interview in preparation for the technologist's final review. The position will perform advanced clinical screening interviews for technologist review. In addition, the PCT III will contact the referring provider office to obtain updated orders, clarify orders, and determine when a new order is required. The PCT III must ensure patients are notified when prep/exam details have changed prior to the exam's scheduled date. The PCT III is responsible for requesting and validating the patient's prior reports and images, and ensuring the clinical review has been conducted in a timely manner, prior to the patient's exam. Miscellaneous duties include: stocking the changing rooms, tech supplies etc. Essential Functions 1. Performs detailed clinical screening of patients for technologist review. Informs technologist of any contraindicated responses that could interfere with patient safety. 2. Assists patients with securing valuables and changing into proper attire for the examination. 3. If qualified, initiates IV for contrast studies and provide medical attention for contrast reactions under the guidance of the radiologist, monitors completion and retrieves lab values. Has working knowledge of normal ranges to facilitate efficient notification to technologist/radiologist aiding in proper patient flow. 4. Prepares room and non-sterile trays as needed to assist technologists/radiologist. 5. Ensures safety procedures are followed at all times in all security zones of the Center. 6. Assists with the Priors Management Grid (receiving and validating priors). Obtains, imports, and validates prior outside studies. 8. Prepares images and paperwork to be sent for interpretation. Brief Description of Duties * Teaches the basic principles and concepts of vocational skills to students. * Maintains a high degree of discipline within classroom setting in order to ensure maximum learning. * Works with academic instructors in coordinating curriculum development and delivering applied academics. * Uses all possible curricular resources available on Center. * Ensures adequate classroom preparation. * Works towards meeting performance management goals established by the company and the National Director of Job Corps via OMS and CTT Report Cards * Provide instruction and remedial training support that will enable students to overcome barriers in obtaining industry certifications or participating in Advanced * Training (AT) or Advanced Career Training (ACT). * Ensures proper maintenance of student personal folders, recording personal data, including test scores, evaluations, attendance, incident reports, achievement awards and any other pertinent information concerning students. * Records and forwards daily attendance to the Records Department. * Assists in the completion of students' resume. * Provide contextual learning opportunities for students to improve academic skills in the CTT learning environment. * Works closely with the Center Director's designee for disability issues to ensure that students with disabilities who are interested assigned trade is provided reasonable accommodations/modifications, if needed, to perform the trade-related skills required by the Training Achievement Records (TARs) * Ensures students are taught the importance of attaining and applying the career success and applied academic standards listed in each TAR. * Updates eTARs at on a weekly basis to credit student skill attainment * Tailors instructional methods and expected rates of progress to the learning styles, abilities, and career goals of individual students. * Complies with all state regulations related to testing and certification. * Intervene and correct inappropriate student behavior and nonperformance * Develop year-round job-shadowing opportunities with community, industry, and employers, which will enhance students' education and career technical skills training.
