Summary The Surgical Technician assists with the nursing care of the patients in the OR by performing routine and delegated duties according to the standards of practice and policy and procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse at all times. The Surgical Technician serves as a scrub nurse, but not independently as a circulating nurse. Other duties include stocking, replenishing, preparing, and/or selecting supplies and equipment for storage or use during surgical procedures. The Surgical Technician assists with housekeeping functions to maintain cleanliness in the OR. Activities are directed toward achieving desired patient outcomes. The Surgical Technician demonstrates the ability to interpret information to identify the patient's age specific needs and provides appropriate care for the age group in question. The Surgical Technician performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
