About the Role: The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting individuals with mental health and emotional challenges by providing direct care and assistance under the supervision of clinical staff. This position focuses on, conducting clinical assessments, and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients in various care settings. The technician will actively participate in crisis intervention and management, helping to de-escalate situations and provide immediate support to patients experiencing emotional distress. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate clinical documentation and assisting with discharge planning to ensure continuity of care. Ultimately, the Behavioral Health Technician contributes to improving patient outcomes by fostering a therapeutic environment and supporting the multidisciplinary team in delivering comprehensive behavioral health services. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in a related field preferred. Certification or training in behavioral health, mental health, or related area is required. Experience working with individuals with mental health disorders, including crisis intervention and patient care. Ability to maintain clinical documentation accurately and comply with healthcare regulations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and multidisciplinary teams. Valid driver's license and good driving record required. If recovering, two (2) years of continuous verifiable sobriety. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, nursing, or a related behavioral health field. Monitor and sometimes facilitate the Book Studies and Recovery meetings. Must be aware of patient locations, at all times, circulating around the facility on a regular basis and document hourly checks. Assure that all patients follow the Bradford Program Schedule and are on time for each assignment. Supervise and sometimes facilitate patient activities as directed. Assure the patients are in their rooms at the designated time in the evening. Oversee med line to prevent diversion and to de-escalate situations as they arise. Assist patients to and from activities, medication times, and meals when unable to physically walk. Assist the counselor as assigned and engage in appropriate documentation. Responsible for the adherence to all applicable policies and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to assist patients in overcoming their denial and resistance to treatment and completion of treatment goals. Demonstrated the ability to manage communities, redirect behavior, and document shift reports. Attend staff training and programs as directed. Assist nurses as directed by supervisor. Drive patients to and from appointments, to include patient outings, as directed. Drive to purchase patient sundries and miscellaneous items; including nicotine products as directed. Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, must not appear impaired or disoriented, but rather must present coherent and articulate speech, kept appearance, alert, oriented, and responsive to patients' needs and concerns. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: As a member of the nephrology healthcare team, you will provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. - Sets up, tests, and operates hemodialysis machines for patient treatments. - Obtains and documents necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight for each patient. - Evaluates vascular access pre-treatment and performs vascular access cannulation. - Evaluates intradialytic problems and provides intervention as prescribed by physician order or as directed. - Monitors patients' response to dialysis therapy. - Evaluates patient prior to termination of venous access and discontinues dialysis treatment according to established procedures. - Reports any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to supervisor. - Enters all treatment data into the designated clinical application in an accurate and timely manner. - Collects, labels, appropriately prepares, and stores lab samples according to required laboratory specifications. - Cleans and disinfects dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment, and surrounding area between treatments according to facility policy. - Assists other healthcare members in providing patient education. - Prepares, organizes, and efficiently uses supplies and equipment to prevent waste. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Work under the supervision of a licensed vocational nurse or a registered professional nurse to perform the following duties: After authorization by the facility's licensed nurse or the resident's treating physician, administers PRN medications. Organizes assigned medication duties to pour, pass, and document all routine prescribed medications and to give PRN medication only upon the instruction of the licensed nurse. Must document all PRN's according to State Standards in all areas of the chart. Observe and report to the facility's charge licensed nurse reactions and side effects of medication commonly administered to nursing facility's residents. Take and record vital signs prior to administration of medications which could affect or change the vital signs. Administer and document regularly prescribed medications which the medication aide is permitted to administer only after personally preparing (setting up) of those medications to be administered. Document the medications given in the resident's clinical record. Administer oxygen per nasal channel or a non-sealing face mask only in an emergency. Immediately after the emergency, the medication aide shall verbally notify the licensed nurse on duty or on call and appropriately document the activity and notification. At discretion of charge nurse, count narcotics, give all routine prescribed narcotics, and document same on individual sheet and medication sheet. Qualifications Must have successfully completed state approved school of medication administration. Must carry current acknowledgment card or certification issued by state agency. Must be willing to abide by restrictions placed on his/her job by state agency. Must be a certified nursing assistant. (EOE)
