He/she will be responsible for preparing equipment and supplies needed for the provision of anesthesia care service as required by all patients undergoing surgery and/ or other procedure. The Anesthesia technician will order and maintain supplies, clean/sterilize equipment to make sure it is functioning properly. He/she will assist the Anesthesiologist/CRNA to insure optimum safety and quality patientcare. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality and performance improvement process activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A. Education
High School Diploma
Associate's degree in anesthesia technology strongly preferred
B. Qualifications/Experience
Minimum one year experience as Anesthesia Technician in an acute care hospital or a graduate of an accredited ASATT program.
Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.
ASATT certification preferred

Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, ADA and Joint Commission policies and procedures, boundaries and client and company confidentiality

How you will change lives
As a PatientCareTechnician (PCT) at US Renal Care, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional team providing care and delegated activities of treatment to patients. The PCT will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Charge Nurse (CN) for patients with renal failure.
What you'll be doing
Patientcare. You will work directly with patients to provide safe, comfortable, and high-quality dialysis treatment. Responsibilities include gathering patient stats before and after treatment, initiating treatment, monitoring patients during treatment, terminating treatment, and collecting patient blood samples per physician orders.
Technician Duties. You will ensure quality comes first by preparing machines for hemodialysis treatments, cleaning and disinfecting machines after treatment, and conducting machine safety checks and logging results for quality control, ensuring all protocols and regulations are followed.
Safety and Quality. You will use appropriate safety measures, including personal protective equipment. Working under the supervision of a Charge Nurse, you will adhere to all company policies, procedures, and state/federal laws and regulations. You will participate in all required staff meetings and continuing education offerings.

Previous healthcare experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA is a plus.

Reports any problems with equipment to the house supervisor. Assists the house supervisor/nurse manager when families wish to view bodies: removes body from morgue and places in the viewing room. Provides break coverage for unit secretaries or other PCT's and comparable positions

What You'll Do
MONITORING SKILLS AND DOCUMENTATION: Provides continuous observation and cardiac monitoring for an assigned group of patients, reporting changes in patient condition to licensed nurse and/or physician as appropriate. Ensures patient monitors and/or telemetry units are intact and functional. Identifies basic arrhythmias, anticipates emergent situations, and reacts appropriately. Troubleshoots false alarms and the monitoring system. Obtains and mounts rhythm strips as directed and provides an accurate rhythm summary at change of shift or as needed. Establishes and maintains effective filing systems. Maintains accurate telemetry documentation, and ensures infection control and HIPAA compliance.
COMMUNICATION: Engages in caring behaviors, taking conscious ownership for work and takes a proactive, deliberate, and thoughtful actions regarding work activities. Demonstrates appropriate use of independent judgement and decision making.
EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT: Effectively uses all applicable computer and office systems/procedures. Ensures the work area is clean, clutter free and organized. Maintains telemetry box inventory and functioning. Ensures infection control procedures and cleaning of equipment.
Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent
AHA-approved Basic Arrhythmia Certification
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Understanding of basic medical terminology
Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
Computer literacy and proficiency
Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only)
